Ok folks im going to start a stock build for my F/TR rifle with a 30" barrel. I was wondering if there were any standard or recommend lengths for the forend from the front of the action to the tip? I read somwhere between 16 and 18 inches? Is that about common? I know the lenght of pull is more about comfort for the shooter. Im more concerned about the length and width if the forend. Is there any rule of thumb for this?

Thanks.

Lots of folks have moved to long forends, as a way to increase the "wheelbase", in hopes of improving tracking. A couple thing to consider when doing this- you need to be able to reach the hight adjustment on your bipod, and the longer the forend, the harder it can be to keep it stiff enough to avoid a springboard effect. Off the top of my head, I don't remember how long the forends are on my stocks, but I'm happy to measure if you like. I also have a Starshooter ultimate FTR stock for sale if you are interested...

mpwolf: I would appreciate it if you would measure your forend length for me. My budget is a little low for what you would be wanting for the star shooter stock and it probably would be easy to inlet it to fit an old Musgrave action.

Thanks
