Hello,

I have been shooting a Savage with an accustock for several years now. I am mostly happy with the accuracy I am achieving.

I do find the accustock to be on the flimsy side. If I am not careful in how I am holding the rifle, I can get a POI shift. This gets to be an issue when shooting from various positions (lol use what you have for support)

I am considering trying to bed the forearm of the rifle. I think it would be more consistent if the barrel came into contact the entire length of the forearm. I am thinking possibly using devcon for the job.

Anybody know anything about this? Am I barking up the right tree? Is bedding the whole forearm a good idea?

if you want to bed the full length of the forearm to provide a more rigid stock, go ahead and do it. Just remember to float the barrel so that there is an even space between the barrel and stock on the bottom and sides of the barrel channel. The result should be a more rigid stock, with less potential for POI shift and the floating barrel will maintain the accuracy. wrap the barrel in electrical or duct tape to get the consistent spacing. I often will pad the chamber area of the barrel and float the rest.

Instead of bedding the forestock, look at reinforcing it. Either drill down the length of the forestock under the barrel and add a piece of rigid tubing, 7075 aluminum or carbon fiber or something, or remove material and then fiberglass or carbon fiber under the barrel. You can bed the barrel to the stock in this method, then space it with tape and bed the action so that barrel is raised, you may want to pillar bed it at that point to raise it and have it above the forestock bedding...

Or just order a boyds, bed it and be done with it.

Carbon fiber tube can be had cheap from china via aliexpress, $4USD with shipping for instance
