The only two companies I know of who load full-power 10mm are Norma and Buffalo Bore. I just tried to order a case of Norma cartridges from a local store only to be told that their supplier in Canada said they don't load 10mm anymore. Surprising since they were the first to load 10mm back in the eighties... Their website sorta confirms this as they seem to concentrate pretty much exclusively on rifle cartridges now.

So my question is, do you know of anyone who carries Buffalo Bore in Canada, or do you know of any other companies that load full-power 10mm?

DoubleTap Ammo in USA has best 10mm ammo. He has his own special proprietary powder which equals HOT handloads yet is safe to use in ANY factory 10mm.(even GLOCKS with factory barrels).

Sadly I have been waiting years to see it in Canada but it is unlikely to happen as there is no distributor.

Crafm (dealer on here) was supposed to get some Corbon which loads hot ammo but I think its being delayed.

B made a good suggestion. Reload. Cheaper in the long run.

Here is a forum that will give you ALL the info you need on reloading 10mm.

Thank you both for the tips. I do in fact reload. The reason I'm trying to find full-power factory loads is for comparative purposes...

See, the same month I started reloading, I loaded some rounds with 9gr v-N350 (and a few more at 9.4gr) behind a 180gr bullet, following Speer's reloading manual. Then, before I got to shoot them, I realized most every other source's max loads with those components are around 7gr, so I erred on the side of safety and started working up the load, leaving those initial rounds for later.

A few months later, I loaded a few with 8.8gr, and those worked fine in my Delta Elite. Then I blew the dust off those first 9gr rounds I'd loaded and my buddy and I went to the range to try'em out in his brand new Dan Wesson Razorback.

I was alarmed to find the spent cases horribly bulged at the base. I think we came close to case rupture. I was pretty rattled, and annoyed. Speer and a recent Handloader's Magazine edition that had a special on handloading 10mm both recommend loads up to 9.7gr, and even 10gr v-N350 behind a 180gr bullet.

So anyway, that's why I wanted factory full-power ammo, to see if they were in the same power range as my handloads.

I was pretty alarmed when I realized the chamber wasn't properly supported. I thought a fully supported chamber was a given in such a powerful calibre...

This is what a hot load of DoubleTap will do...

DoubleTap 10mm
135gr JHP @ 1600fps - 11.0" / .70" frag nasty
155gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1475fps - 13.5" / .88"
165gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1400fps - 14.25" / 1.02"
165gr Golden Saber JHP @ 1425fps - 14.75" / .82"
180gr Golden Saber JHP @ 1330fps - 16.0" / .85"180gr Gold Dot JHP @ 1300fps - 15.25" / .96"
200gr XTP @ 1250fps - 19.5" / .72"
230gr Equalizer @ 1040fps - 11.0" and 17.0" / .62" and .40"

Here is a complete list of factory 10mm loadings with energy, velocity, price etc. Sadly not too many available in Kanada!

Did you chrono your loads?

What kind of brass were you using?

I only use NEW Win or Starline for hot loads.

I never reload once fired brass hot...I keep it for target loads.

I have tried AA#9, BlueDot, and 800-X for my 10mm's.

I have come to conclusion that 800-X is one of best powders for speed&energy but does NOT meter worth a crap. Bluedot is great powder as it meters consistently(I use this powder for my target loads).

I have never tried andy Vihta Powders but this guy was pleased with 3N-38 in his 10mm.

So you may want to try that powder as well.

Quote from G-20er on GlockTalk...

Here is the data using VV 3N38 and the 200 grain XTP Bullet. Anybody ever seen a handgun load with a 4.2 on standard deviation. That is great!!! This was the most accurate powder I have used yet. All 10 rounds were in a 3 inch diameter circle from 25 yards using open sights and a rest on barrel side of gun only.

G-20 with stock length KKM barrel
Starline Brass
CCI 300 primers (do not use mag primers with this powder).
OAL 1.250

Please Note: do not try to fire these loads in a stock Glock barrel. 9.3 was max load for the stock Glock barrel. See bottom of page for further information.

Maximum safe load with stock Glock barrel was 9.3 grains of VV 3N38 at 65 F OAT. This load produced only 1135 fps. 9.5 grains don't even try it with the stock Glock barrel. Very heavy smileys on all cases. I believe this powder was actually designed for lighter weight bullets in mind.

Maximum safe load using KKM barrel was 10.5 grains of VV 3N38 at 65 F OAT. This load produced 1221 fps with a SD of a low 4.2 I took the load as high as 10.8 but got light smileys on 75% of brass. 10.8 grains of VV 3N38 gave 1252 fps which matches DoubleTap Ammo; however, Mikes DT Ammo is running at much lower pressures and much safer.

I am learning that with the KKM aftermarket barrel with powders in this burn range, you can load 10% more powder which gives you approximately 110 fps more with same pressure signs as compared to the Glock stock barrel.

As mentioned earlier IMR800X is the best performance powder available for the top 10mm loads but is hard to work with and every load must be weighed individually.

My favorite is Blue Dot the performance is right up there but I can load with a progressive loader yeah my loads maybe 50fps slower than IMR800X loads but the ease of using this powder far outweighs the performance possible with 800X...

With 800X I have safely obtained 1800fps from a 6" Barsto barreled Colt Delta Elite with 135gr Nosler JHP's.
