Earlier today my mind started some sort of subroutine of organizing rifle designs which crept onto my conscious thinking, and now won't go away. So I want to bounce this question off the collective brain trust.

What full-size cartridge military semi-auto rifles (not 7.62x51 NATO!) are missing from this list?

-AG42/AG42B
-G43/K43
-MAS44
-MAS49 and MAS49/56

-Egyptian Hakim (an AG42B derivative)

Japanese made a semi auto at the end of the war. Looked like a garrand with a magazine. 7.7 jap caliber. Pretty rare.

Yes, the EM-2 could fire on full auto. And although experimental versions were produced to test with different cartridges, including 30-06, the officially adopted verstion used a new 7x43mm cartridge that might not be well described as full-size. Certainly the U.S. military at the time, wanting very much to keep at least their .30 calibre projectile, complained that it wasn't powerful enough.
 
Yeah. I've seen pictures of a few complete ones. Semi auto's only got into the testing stage in japan. Never went into full production.

Yeah, I just realized the Vz 52/57 and SKS don't count because they use intermediate cartridges.

Nice list! I think you just downloaded your wish list!

A Barrett .50 is a semi-auto rifle, but not the sort of thing issued to ordinary infantry!

The Swedish AG42, AG42B and Hakim all go by the name Ljungman. Someone mentioned the Danish Madsen, which is a fourth variant of the same rifle.

The PSG-1 is an H&K G3 derivative in 7.62x51.
