If you already have a 1911 lower and if they're available in Canada get a Marvel 22 conversion upper. They are amazing. You can use the same lower you use with your 45 so they're perfect for 22 practice. With good ammo they can easily achieve 1 inch groups at 50 yards (yes, that's 50 YARDS). If you have a lower with a good trigger pull you have yourself a great bullseye gun as well.

Unfortunately Marvel Precision won't pay the state department to allow them to export their products to Canada. I have a unit-1, it's test target was .341 inch at 50 yards, but it was purchased by a fellow shooter a number of years back at Camp Perry. Marvellous is the only way to describe it. However if you look carefully at the STI catalog you will find marvels under their own branding(STI), both the unit-1and-2 versions as I recall. Much better accuracy than any other conversion unit.
