Bought a Mares leg and determined I made a mistake.

Is a full length butt stock available for it anywhere ?

I like the short barrel, but that stock makes it more of a novelty gun than a useful gun to me.

Shouldn't a full size stock from the factory for an H001 fit? Or am I missing something?

Yes they will, but stocks & forearms by themselves are just hard to find/get here in the red & white north.
Henry doesn't like to ship items outside the good old U.S. of A. unless you're a distributor.
There generally known for not being "customer oriented".

Henry ML 22 full stock

I ordered a youth stock for a h001 for my 22 ML directly from Henry and they shipped to Canada for me with no problem...

Straight from the "Parts" section of the Henry web site.

"NOTE: due to customs restrictions, we are not able to ship products to Canada or anywhere outside the US."

Just off the phone with them.
No shipping to Canada.
Not even a piece of wood.
Had the service rep. ask the manager to be sure.

Ordered to Canada

They must have buggered something up with my order than - I also ordered my using the phone and they shipped it to my door - this would have been some time last spring.

I got my Henry Mares leg 22 from P&D ENTERPRISES and they informed me that they have some carbine length but stocks on order for these.I would like to do the mod myself as I think it will make the rifle more usable for me.Hope this helps!

I was fortunate enough to get a used stock set (for a H001) off of the EE for my Mares Leg

Some steaming of dings, 6 coats of Tru-Oil and a new (more classy) crescent butt plate on the full length stock made a nice little carbine out of the fun but impractical Mares Leg.

Some CGN members have PO boxes in the US so can get stuff from Henry USA shipped there.

Or see how well a Winchester 94 butt stock fits, (supposed to be a near match) it was an option I was going to go with until I stumbled across the EE gem.

Or perhaps some folks on the RFC (rim fire central) site will have "take off" wood for sale. I have read how several have ordered "presentation grade" wood to replace the factory stuff so you may be able to get a full length butt stock for cheap.

Any way you can do it I highly recommend doing so. The good old .22LR really doesn't gain anything from barrels past 12-14" anyways so make the convoluted Canadian gun laws work to your advantage and have a SBR rifle that even most Americans can't own.:D

I'd like to own a SBR lever action Henry but wouldn't buy one if the longer stock isn't available. The "Mare's Leg" concept is more fantastical than practical.

For what it's worth, I have ordered and received three brasslite Henry .22 lever action receiver covers. These were offered for sale by the General manager of Henry who is a member of Rimfire Central. This was a special offer for members of rimfire central to be able to customize their H001 series of rifles. The receiver covers came directly from Henry Wisconsin and shipping to Canada was not an issue.

Here's my transformed Mare's Leg with a Youth Stock. It is one handy little carbine that my nephews will be able to shoot as it is shorter and lighter weight than most rimfire rifles I have.
