Fun day at my gunrange

But you missed the point entirely!

GO ahead and have fun by all means. Hell even break the law if you want. But for god's sake keep it to yourself. Don't brag about it to us thinking you're going to get a god damn medal.

This forum is for law-abiding, responsible, MATURE firearms owners. It's not a place for airsoft loving, teenage videogamers to come on here and blab about what illegal things they are doing with guns. This forum is supposed to exist to help the canadian firearms community, not hurt it.

Do research, ask questions, learn.

Dean_1911, I hope in three years you go and get your PAL and join a range and buy all the guns you can afford, but for now just keep yourself grounded, watch your p's and q's and enjoy yourself. Keep learning, keep shooting (LEGALLY!!!) and keep reading all the threads on here that interest you.

pure sense.

End of thread.

wow...way to jump all over a young shooter guys. well done! you've all gained a ton of respect in my books! remind me to bring my friends who are new to shooting to the range to meet you guys, and introduce you as welcoming, friendly gun owners. *end sarcasm*

i think we're missing a couple facts here:

how old is your buddy zach, Dean 1911? does he have a vaild PAL?

are black birds (i'm assuming they were crows) fair game where you live?

if zach is 18 and has a full licence and crows are in season, end of discussion. no law was broken. it's good to see young shooters having fun.

if zach isn't 18 with no full licence, then sorry Dean 1911, yes you did technically break a law. as a minor, you must be supervised by someone with a full licence while you are shooting. now you know, so you can avod such an error in the future.

if the crows are not in season, there is another law that has been broken. make sure that you check your local hunting regulations before shooting anything. there you go, you've learned another lesson.

as for all those questioning a kid shooting birds on the wing with a .22.....hey grandpa, better pull out those reading glasses. they were shot with a SHOTGUN. maybe you think "adults" are the only ones capable of wing shooting birds, but guess what? i've seen kids be better shots than some "experienced adults". so instead of jumping down the kids' throat, whoo-sa a bit, breathe, and reread the original post.

we've all done stupid stuff as a kid, so i think he can be cut a little slack. he had a fun time shooting in his backyard, and wanted to share it with the "big boys." as older, more experienced shooters, we are here as role models for the upcoming generation. it is our job to guide them in the legalitys, traditions and ways of our wonderful sport, not mock them, bash them or put them down everytime we disapprove of something they do.

it's one thing to tease and haze noobs a bit, but when it comes to the point of straighth up bashing them, it really gets on my nerves. even his spelling, you know what? the guy is 15. cut him some slack. i doubt all of you could spell perfectly at that age.

Dean 1911, all legalities aside, i'm glad you had a fun time. that's what shooting is about. a couple rifles, a buddy, some ammo, and something to shoot at. welcome to the shooting sports, and if you're ever in the Lower Mainland in BC, drop me a PM. i've got an empty seat in my truck and some spare rifles. we'll head to the range and have some fun.

i hope you don't take these guys too seriously, i don't. it's the internet. but do take note of what they say, as some of it can be good advice. double check your laws and reguations and make sure that you are within those guidelines. that will make for a more relaxing time, few if any hassles if you get checked, and when you right a story on here, not as many sticks in the mud will pipe up to put you down. and just use your spell check before you post, as then you can avoid the spelling and grammar nazis.

FlyingHigh,
The problem is that hes posting it on the internet more than anything. If it turns out to be illegal, we don't want him being associated with this site, saying things like "I LURNED SO MUCH FRUM CANADIAN GUN NUTS I WENT OUT AND SHOT SOME PEREGRIND FALCUNS"

i understand that, but it still doesn't mean you guys can jump all over him, insult him and verbally beat him into the ground. a gentle reminder, a PM and maybe a note from a moderator explaining what the problems is and why would suffice. the way you guys are doing it, you're liable to turn him off shootin altogether.

yes it does.

the way you guys are doing it, you're liable to turn him off shootin altogether.

good.
He's done this community a disservice by associating his activities with this site, I think he deserves one in turn.

Turn him off shooting, or get him to smarten up and start acting like a responsible gun owner. Either one is better than what it is now.

Things sure are different than when I was a kid! I'm not that old (32), but I remember when a younger version of me could tramp around with a .22 and it was okay.

Of course, this was when gun racks were common in the back of half tons, the gunroom was mom n dads closet, and getting ammo meant buggin' mom til she handed over a box!!!

I don't condone illegal or questionable behavior either, but I also remember it was the 10 commandments of firearm safety, with a dash of common sense, and that was good in the mid 80's.

I'm sure these guys didnt set out to break laws, just having some fun. I'll bet a few of these posts have schooled them enough to keep them on the up and up.

ok...i get it now. to be a true gun owner and a respectable gun nut i must do the following:

- bash noobs at every turn
- do my best to discourage new shooters
- throw any politeness, courtesy and respect to the four winds
- toss out insults to anything and anyone left right and center
- show zero tolerance
- be a total prick

i still don't see what harm it could have done to point out any errors he made, and left it at that. maybe closed the thread, since discussion of illegal activity isn't allowed.

Holy fack, the brainwashed are really thick in here tonight.....

uh huh. sure buddy, what ever you say. thanks for such an insightful and helpful comment. i'll be sure to pass your infinite wisdom on down the line. just because someone doesn't agree with you, they're brainwashed? good lord, and i though liberals and vegans were close minded. guess i was wrong.

X2.

Im sorry if i upset anybody with my post, i was just sharing a fun experience i had.. and in no way was it illegal, the birds in question, "black birds" and barn swallows that i know of, are not a game bird there about the size of a small apple and we both have hunting lisences and we both had permission to shoot and we were being supervised. AND IN NO WAY DID ANY OF US SHOOT INTO THE AIR WITH A .22 RIM FIRE * I CLEARLY WROTE THAT MY FRIEND HAD HIS BERETTA URIKA *12GAUGE* (which is a shotgun by the way). And just because we are 15 dosent mean we are a crappy shot, he just got back from the Ottawa summer games, scoring 3rd place in a skeet shooting competition...
I know my laws and the dangers of shooting, proper muzzle control and fingers were off the trigger when they were not being shot.....

*sorry for my spelling i just got back from shooting and didnt really worry about my spelling... i didn't think it matter to much on a Internet form..
Thanks anyway to some of you. Maybe i should just go back to my video game world
Well thats it for me.. i wont post anymore, to avoid this situation again.

HEY! all you grumpy old gunnutz: you just got owned!!! roflmao! damn, i need a good pic to post, but i don't have any. rock on Dean! it's not often a 15 year old kid lays an internet smackdown on these guys. bravo kid! :D

see what happens when you dig into the details a little more?

i think a bunch of you guys owe this young man an apology!

And just because we are 15 dosent mean we are a crappy shot, he just got back from the Ottawa summer games, scoring 3rd place in a skeet shooting competition...

Good for your buddy at the Ontario summer games! Um, you forgot to mention that third place is also last place since there were only 3 Teams competing! ;)

Dean_1911, you don't need to try to impress us since there are many of us here that have great skills in all areas. Most of us are humble about our expertise with guns since there is always more to learn and we can always be better marksmen.

I hope you continue with your interest in guns and hunting and will be open to any good advice on this forum (don't listen to the bad advice :D)

Yet you keep admitting to illegal activities.
Two 15 year olds without full PALs unsupervised.

It shouldn't be that way, but it is.
I'm not choosing sides either, it's just what the law is.
