I'm want to get my wife excited about shooting, so I'm looking to make her first few experiences as fun as possible. Any recommendations for targets, etc? I've already picked up a bunch of the high-vis impact paper targets, and I'm starting to look at steel targets.

steel is always a good one. those cheap resetting ones are alright, but steel is sweet. Never underestimate tin cans either, plenty of good ol' fashion fun can be had plinking away at those.

Those resetting metal targets?
Balloons or paint ball bawls glued on a back board.
Golf bawls are always fun to shoot and follow.
Pine cones too.

Golf balls?
Btw is this on your land? Ive heard most ranges dont allow explosive targets.
If its out in the bush, all I ask is you be a responsible shooter and clean up your mess when done.
Ive always wanted to try hair spray or shaving cream cans but are scared of starting a grass fire.

Have you tried shooting golf bawls?
Pick them up when yer dun.

old produce.

I didn't think anyone would admit to it lol !

I sometimes get wood skewers from the grocery store and impale some potatoes or onions and stick them into the ground. They're easy to clean up after on the acreage ,as I just put them in the compost pile. Cheap reactive target that's a hoot to shoot at.

Bottles of water and blocks of ice. ( freeze water in cardboard milk containers) hang balloons on string & shoot as they float around. Hang anything on string and try to cut the string ( a good black powder game ). I would start on paper so she can see where she is hitting.

Any of the big stores will have ball targets like this:

set up a couple 'nets' or a 'goals' and two people with guns can have a competition trying to score on their own net by directing the ball with shot placement.

playing cards. staple a whole deck to a sheet of cardboard and then shoot poker hands, or have another deck with you on the line and cut for targets.
