Got my first SKS yesterday (chinese Norico POS...no matching serial numbers) and spent 3 hours cleaning it up! Thanks to everyone on this forum who has posted tips, disassembly/assembly instructions and general info about the SKS. After reading some of the stories of SKS's that suck (won't fire, slam fire, won't cycle and inaccurate) I went back last night and thoroughly checked out my SKS to see if I would have any potential problems. I was finally able to remove the firing pin (Thanks to instructions and tips here) and was glad I took the extra effort to do that beforing firing for the first time. The firing pin was covered in grease and did not move as freely as it should. 2 more hours spent cleaning and then reassembled the gun last night. I have to say, I think the time spent to clean it up the first time paid off. The gun shot beautifully today! All 100 rounds I put through it today fired great with no problems whatsoever. I have to adjust my front sight tho...it shoots 3 - 4 inches to the right at 50 yards. I'll get the front sight adjustment tool mentioned on this forum and give that a try.
I love my SKS and have purchased 2000 rounds of ammo for it which should last me about a month

Once again, thanks to all the guys on this forum who have posted all the great tip and tricks.
