"...only seen a Garand jam once..." They do tend to jam with blanks. Usually when using the wrong blank. Mikey was likely issued the crimped style blanks. Those aren't the right blank for an M1.
'Completely re-arsenaled' doesn't mean the same thing to everybody. His 'Honor Guard' rifles were not functioning properly. Likely never cleaned and lubed correctly either. Nobody has ever said the M1 was the first semi-auto battle rifle or claims the M1 killed German or Japanese troopies at a rate of 15:1 either. Most battle casualites in W.W. II were caused by artillery, just like W.W. I.
The guy whines about "Garand Thumb" a lot. Garand thumb is caused by operator failure. If he had been trained to use an M1 his problems would go away.
He doesn't like the M14 either. It was adopted for purely political reasons, just like his favorite M16. A rifle that nobody wanted.
