Funny Mosin story

Actually, the cleaning bottle holds a double dose of vodka, or vodka and mix. I keep stolchyina in one and Phillips milk of magnesia in the other, so I can have a Phillips Screwdriver when thirsty:D

...Surprisingly, when I pulled the trigger (well, jerked really. The trigger is set at something like 58 pounds) the gun did not explode (my shoulder did, but that’s another story). But I was shooting east, and the bullet went clear through my railroad tie target and headed towards Germany. You just can’t retrain these guns.

I chuckled at that one!:)

Just on the M91's from what I've read, the later versions are supposed to be in meters.

That is what I have gathered. All others are in meters.

Is this (below)point correct? If my Mosin is not accurate, I should put the bayonet on? :D

Q. Why does my M44 (of M91/30) shoot so far to the left (or right) of the point of aim?
A. M44s were sighted in with the bayonet extended. Shooting with the bayonet stowed affects the barrel harmonics and can change the point of impact by as much as 1 foot per 100 yards. Not all M44s are effected this much or even at all. Either shoot with the bayonet extended or drift the front sight to compensate for the difference. Similarly M91/30s were sighted with the bayonet fixed.

Yes but you're not John Sukey. His mosin is the second one off the line ever and he has two of them! With thier matching transit box and the unobtainium incredibly complex and early sighting tool.

The first mosin off the line was destroyed in tests.

Wait, I'm getting mixed up with the Million Dollar Luger. But John probably has that one too. That's the moral of the story, I'm jealous of John Sukey.

;)

My favorite thing about mosins is that if it's pre-war, you can be damn sure it didn't stay in a crate during the war. You're looking down the same sights a Soviet soldier did.

Mine's a '33 from P&S Militaria.
