I know everyone is pumped up for getting their meat in the freezer, but Im pumped up to get some fur on the ground. :) Got a new rifle to check out, wanna see how she does.

Im just wondering where someone finds out what the market is for fur for this year? 90-100 for coyotes? Im hoping.

Cool thanks

So we are going off of Junes prices right now? Am I reading that right?
There was a Sept NAFA sale. The few coyotes I had left sold for a $80 average with my high seller going for $130. Good fur should be worth money again but it won,t take much damage to start losing value.
What did you get for a new rifle?

80-130 is nice. thanks

Im going to try out a 243 this year. Kind of a hit or miss kind of thing. Just wanted something for the yotes that hang out a ways.

I just wanted to know if the prices were good this year, so I could get 25 bucks for a whole dog when I drop em off to the guy I use.

you would have to pay me to leave it if you shot it with a 243 .I would rather have then shot with a shotgun then a 243 .I us a 22 250 and have no problem reaching out a long long way Dutch

Well I read a bunch of guys not getting damage, so Im going to try her out. Still got my 223 if I start blowin holes in em.

If you're going to use the 243, stick to the 55 gr. Nosler BT or the 58 gr. Hornady VMax and only take broadside shots. Raking or angled shots will make a heck of a mess, even with solids. I finally gave up on the bigger calibers for fur friendliness and pretty much stick to 22-250 with 40 gr. Vmax broadside at distance or my 223 with solids. 17 HMR and 12 GA BB lead work well at ranges under 50 yds. too.

I got one today with my .243 55gn nosler at 150 yards broadside. Didn't seem like a huge amount of damage. Nothing like the one I got a few months back on an angle. I'm not a fur guy by any means, but I like to feed the bald eagles that frequent my place.:D

Edit: never mind that. Had a closer look..... There's a rather large hole. Bird food it is.

Forget trying to sell a 'yote pelt shot with anything bigger than a centerfire .22 if you want comparable range to the .243 look to the .22-250 or .220 Swift. They're not going to match the former's ability to buck the wind, but they won't destroy the pelt with the right bullet either.
