I sort of impulse-bought a new 20 gauge 870 for my 9 yr old, wondering what options there are to change out the stock/fore end. Searching online doesn't yield much info so far. I've gone with youth models for my kids in the past but they grew out of them quickly. Any suggestions? I'd prefer not cutting down the stock (for future growth). Is there much of an aftermarket for the 20 gauge?

Any help is appreciated......

20 gauge 870 uses the same butt stock as a 760/7600/740/7400 Remington pump and semi rifles, so there are LOTS options, depending on what you want to spend: Numrich, Boyds, here on the EE. The comb might be higher than normal on a vent rib gun. I went the other way around and put a factory grey laminate 20ga. 870 stock on my 760 carbine, and it works and looks great IMO. The fore end is a separate problem, as I don't believe that they will interchange.

If you want a standard 870 stock, Mesa Tactical makes an adapter plate for the 20g. As for forend, you can try shimming standard 870 pumps. Worked alright for one I did up over the winter.
