Further to the VP9 torture test done my MAC.....

ONe bad review,..I want to throw my hk at a stationary steel target a bunch of times, cause that is real world.

He spoke about that after. It was more like "I wanted to throw my HK at stationary steel targets after it failed from being submerged in water."

I can't say I blame him.

I guess my point was that after throwing it at everything for 5 minutes him acting surprised that it broke was pretty dumb. It may be a part of the pistol that may need to be strengthening in a future revision but criticising the broken mag release after that abuse was idiotic.

Let's see him torture test his tightly fit $2000+ Sphinx and see how it fares. My guess is not much better.

Sphinx SDP Alpha Compact passed the water/mud test so he didn't feel the need to throw it at targets.

This test debunks MAC's in my opinion. Also keep in mind MAC has a tendency to grab a gun out of the box full of packing grease and starts shooting /testing it without cleaning and lubing it first. So I am not surprised he sees failures early on. ( as you should do with any firearm). The fact that he is very much into the Isreali firearms ( nothing wrong with them) at the moment also makes me wonder if the tests he does are 100% legit.

The MAC test has inspired so many other VP9 tests you can find on youtube. Almost every one has shown the complete opposite results that MAC got.

Slightly off topic to the MAC discussion but still VP9 related:

Larry Vickers call's the VP9 "One of my favorite rigs" and speaks very highly of the VP9 and it's durability...This is coming from a guy who has a whole lineup of Glock accessories and custom Glocks that he sells.

MAC did a test with the VP9 and it failed ... for him. That's all that matters. I cannot blame him one bit for not feeling confident in its reliability and moving on.

As discussed before....MAC's test was very "scientific" and repeatable. The value of such a test by MAC is very questionable, as shown by all the other amateurs who have also done their own testing whether you love or hate the VP9, please don't base it on a non-scientific amateur test like the one that was done by MAC.

The last most extensive testing of handguns done world wide was the US Department of Homeland Security Testing. Millions of dollars spent on testing all done scientifically. Example, dust chambers with small, medium and heavy particles over set times ect. Another test was to simply shoot all the guns to destruction, all random production samples. The results are classified and not available to non-LE / Military. The results were a join contact between HK and Sig. Over 40000 guns purchased initially with follow-on contracts.

Now this will come as a shock to many, Glock failed the testing. Only HK and Sig passed, Joint Contract Awarded as a result. I love Glocks and they have a reputation for passing harsh testing, but they failed. But many other brands failed miserably proving that only certain brands of firearms are truly "Service Grade". Take a look around the world at handguns used by SF. You will almost always see only 3 brands: Sig, HK and Glock. This is because when you perform proper scientific trials (often spending millions of dollars on) they are most often the only ones that pass, with the odd exception.

When someone does not have access to these testing results or have the knowledge base connected to them, they then rely on the internet videos to form their opinions.

Internet videos are good entertainment though !
