I was out plinking a coffee can I set up for my .223 rig at 200y today with my SR-22 which only has a red dot on it. Caught about 5-8 hits from each mag (from 25 round mags, NOT 10), shooting off hand. It sure is fun hearing the "Tink" and seeing the can spin on the pole when you hit it.

something about that metal "Tink" is so satisfying
I do the same at 200 to the metal gongs at my range. I use a pretty much stock 10/22 (VQ extractor and extended mag release)
I put a 3X9 scope on my SR10/22 and set it up at 100m, just for fun I put a sheet of paper at 200m and cranked the scope all the way and shot 10 rnds. I couldnt quite see the holes with my scope but it had 7 holes in it when I pulled it down!

iv shot my trr sr for groups out to 200yards, did very well for useing cheaper cci blazer ammo (10 shots at about 4.5" group) but as far as just plinking goes about 350.. scope toped out and held over as much as i could and still have target in view lol... hit it a few times but its more just luck. at that range any wind and drop off is hard to account for
I work at a golf course and the 8th fairway at 5:30am makes for an awsome 335 yard range. I have only been able to succesfully hit an old BBQ propane tank at that distance but i can do it with all of my .22's, however the only one i could do it consistantly with was a BSA martini... but i sold that one... now i can hit it about 2 out of 5 shots with my marlin 60 and a 4x scope. But man... the hold over on the 60 is crazy. the BSA micrometer sight would crank up so i could put the tank in the front globe... bang, whizzzzz... DINGGGGggg, everytime.
Ammo for the BSA was Eley club (for the long shots... fed 510 under 60m), and for the marlin 60 i use CCI standard velocity.

mossberg plinkster with crappy scope... 4 power ?? Aiming roughly 3feet above target to hit 200 yards... once youve found your mark for elevation...."rock, debree, indent in the berm, ETC'... you can hit it just about every time.Have shot 300 with little success. but can be done, if you have a marker 12 feet above the target lol. Its fun trying to shoot extream distances with the little 22.

I once had a .22 out at 400 yards, plinking away at a 4 foot screen target.
Got about 75% hits. Good fun.

i have a mossberg tactical 22 and never though it could go that far 
Clay pigeons @ about 175 yards with my Anschutz 1450, Federal Gold Medal Target (subsonic) and a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x. Didn't adjust the scope from the 90 yard zero, but figured-out which tree branch to align the horizontal crosshair with. With that established, hard to miss. (clay pigeons with the round/orange face towards me, no trick edge shots )

Had my Cooey 39 and the front sight more than covered the crow. Rested on a fence post, took aim, raised the rifle and shot. Seemed to take forever as we watched and the crow fell out of the tree. Not sure how long as we didn't measure but it ws a long way. Was shooting 22 shorts as they cost less than long rifle.

The main challenges in shooting 22LR at 300 yds is (a) having 40-50 MOA worth of elevation in your setup, (b) finding a way to spot your hits with either a spatter target or pricey spotting scope, and (c) waiting for calm conditions to shoot.
The matches are a lot of fun, and there's no work in making the ammo!
Last year I shot this 22-shot target using Dynapoints and my 10/22. The yellow area is 9.6" in diameter.

We've popped gophers at a lasered 170+ yards a few times, and at 100-120 yards very frequently. The wind is by far the biggest factor with the little 22 - drop is a constant, but wind is variable. And where there are gophers, there's almost always wind.
In the gopher patch, I find that mil-dots are a huge asset - you can't be dialing in your scope for every target when you're constantly changing targets, distances and directions. The dots make a very convenient reference point for windage and elevation hold-overs. So - when a 22lr is zeroed at about 75 yards and you're holding over by 3 to 4 mils - what's the range of the target? I dunno, but it's a lot of fun to send a round on its way, and then see it take out the gopher a second or two later

My longest shots are usually at 200 meters at 2 inch chalk disks but, last time I was at the range I decided to try the 300 meter range. I was hitting a pop can at 300 meters thats about 380 yards. Not consistantly though. Maybe I could hit it 1 out of 3 shots on a dead calm day. Would'nt have thought it could be done. I was shooting a highly modified SR-22 off a Haris bipod with Federal Champion 525 Bulk.
