Furthest you've shot your 22lr

I run out of elevation clicks but I have mildots, so with the gun clicked in at 200y and the scope set at 6x, I can hit 300y every time with a Savage Mark II.

The groups i don't really know, I just shoot at cans and gongs. I'm guessing it would be 4-8 inches with Blazer.

I consistently shoot at 100yds... I've found after a bit of "personal" work (and 25+ years with same rifle) that, anything less becomes a "gimme"....
Have shot out to 200yds but, not with any diligence. Heck, sprayed n' played even further than that!

There's a reason they say "dangerous to a mile" on any box of .22LR shells!

One of my favourite (old vs. new) stories was the last time I went out with fellow CGN'er, Dragonshooter! She outshot a Tikka with a Zeiss conquest (in .308) using one of my Cooey 75's (open sights, bulk ammo) at 100yds....she hit: A golf ball, a babyfood lid and, a little ceramic shotglass. LOL, the fella's who set up the targets were quite impressed...I did mnage to "save face" by hitting a clay on it's edge. The best part (for egos) is that I actually see further/better than her...still wouldn't waste a beer shooting against her!

For fun, accuracy and, no reason to flinch, you really can't beat a .22! If you do your part, they'll do theirs.....

One of my fav. shooting stories....

add on:

I found using .22 LR that, anything past 100 yds is not as tough as it seems...if you shoot and, keep watching, you'll see where you hit (love sand). "Kentucky windage" means your second shot will hit home....

add-on # 2...

I use mil-dot/map8 scopes...I don't adjust the scope but, use the recticle. on a remmy 597 and, cooey64. My fav set-up (which I have to return to) is:
sse-thru rings for open sights...good to 75 (my old eyes) and, scope for beyond.

ANYTHING (not bragging...) in "open sights" is mine. Anything in scope, will be mine...

Years ago while visiting my cousins in Peace River there was a crow in a tree across a cultivated field. Had my Cooey 39 and the front sight more than covered the crow. Rested on a fence post, took aim, raised the rifle and shot. Seemed to take forever as we watched and the crow fell out of the tree. Not sure how long as we didn't measure but it ws a long way. Was shooting 22 shorts as they cost less than long rifle.

Are you sure the crow didn't fall out of the tree from old age waiting for the bullet to get there? :D

I work at a golf course and the 8th fairway at 5:30am makes for an awsome 335 yard range. I have only been able to succesfully hit an old BBQ propane tank at that distance but i can do it with all of my .22's, however the only one i could do it consistantly with was a BSA martini... but i sold that one... now i can hit it about 2 out of 5 shots with my marlin 60 and a 4x scope. But man... the hold over on the 60 is crazy. the BSA micrometer sight would crank up so i could put the tank in the front globe... bang, whizzzzz... DINGGGGggg, everytime.
Ammo for the BSA was Eley club (for the long shots... fed 510 under 60m), and for the marlin 60 i use CCI standard velocity.

LOL your bosses know your using the 8th hole as a range :p thats sick though

I have only shot my 22lr on targets to 110 yards, but I will be trying 200 yards with my Anschutz 1907. I am interested to see how it will group at 200 yards.

One day at the range, after shooting all our 7.62x39, we set out to shoot our .22s at 200m. Kentucky windage and blind luck saw us hitting the gong more often than not, but the coolest was having to aim into the trees to hit the damn thing!! Be interesting to do it again but with .22 tracer, if such a beast exists; bet the trajectory would be pretty *round*!! ;-}
Cheers.
