Future 7mm Saum build

Im starting to peice together a new rifle. A 7mm saum based on a savage action. I will only be shooting the 180g vld's and want to feed from the mag. Should I use a long or short action? Is it possible to buy just the action?

I've also been looking into the RSAUM, also the 284 Win. Either way, I'd build it on a long action. You'll be able to mag feed the larger bullets seated out longer.

It's possible to buy a stand alone action, but you'll need a gunsmith to install the barrel and all that jazz.

Don't need a smith with a savage. A set of go no go gauges and you are good to go. I'm thinking a Stevens 200 long action and a timney trigger.
