Fx-9, PC9, JR9mm

I pick it up tomorrow. ....

Anyone have any real life experience with the good ole blurry red dot and advice on a good one to counter it? ...

Enjoy the new PC9!

For the RDS with astigmatism question, you may want to search in the optics section and/or start a new thread there.

I have the PCC9 and the JR.

I left the PCC9 in base model as its a great backpacker/truck gun. Iron sites are god but its also very easy to add a red dot if you want.

I priced out doing all the upgrades that some people are doing on the PCC9 and for not much more money I just bought a JR.

So now I have 1 great backpacker gun and 1 great tatticool range gun that both use the same mags!

I have had no reliability issues with either.
Both have little things I might change but they are all really just personal preference.

For my crapped out old eyeballs, I went for the Bushnell 1-4x24 illuminated AR 300 blackout BTR-1 and zeroed it at 50 yards.
The drop dots work well with 9mm ballistics, and you can easily learn them for whatever ammo you use.
I was swinging the 3 inch gong at 100 yards with boring ease.
The Ruger PCC makes a pretty dandy "designated marksman" rifle for skunks, porcupines, and whatever.

The JR's got a cheap dot and cowitnessed flip up MBUS for under 50 yard ammo wastage.
I can just knock the dot out of the way with a rock if I have to...

I pick it up tomorrow. (stupid wife ruining my pick up plans yesterday)... Thinking of pairing it with a Holosun 503G reddot. I have a bit of astigmatism and I have heard this is one of the better sights for that. I looked through the 403b and it looked like fireworks going off :(. I have checked out a few of the vortex sights in the 300.00 range and had no issues with those. Anyone have any real life experience with the good ole blurry red dot and advice on a good one to counter it? With local shops very limited on stock this will most likely be a online order and i wont be able to test it personally before i buy.
Look into Prism sights instead of a traditional red dot, Vortex, Primary Arms and Burris all make a great prism sight, much better for astigmatism

Wait till you shoot it! I shot mine yesterday and it was so enjoyable. The only regret I have is that I didn't buy a second or even a third one...

I have already ran a few mags of Remington 124gr. No blips hiccups or farts. Recoil barely exists and the sound report is comparable to .22lr out of a pistol. Out of the box, not much left wanting.

Excellent - thanks for the update! I will try the 147gr tomorrow. I know it is flat nosed and not rounded, so hopefully that doesn't cause any issues.

Agree with the low recoil. The week before I shot my .40 Sub2K...now that was an exercise in recoil control...

Was the accuracy decent for yours? I know some people have complained about the trigger. Maybe it's because I haven't changed out too many triggers and my tolerance berth is pretty wide, but I didn't find the trigger too bad at all - some online reviewers were saying it was like a three-stage trigger, but I didn't even think it felt like a two-stage trigger. But maybe it's just me. Glad to hear of the excellent report.

Have a JR 9mm and a Rossi lever in 357, the JR is second gen, 1000's of rounds...one head separation( 5th or 6th reload) and the charging handle came loss( again my fault). Other then that 0 issues. They come with the best factory support in the business. The Rossi lever is very nice model 92, 16 inch barrel, well built. These are two rifles built like a tank, and made for the long run...not plastic...or stamped steel parts...but good old fashion, made on a lathe and milling machine quality of work....not injected molded...drop in the cold Temps and break a corner off, kinda rifle.

I've had two of the 3.
FX9: best ergonomics, most AR-ish if the 3 in terms of manual of arms. Easy takedown.
Mine was a jamming POS until I replaced the buffer and spring with much heavier components. I'd get 2+ jams/double feeds/stovepipes per mag, no matter what mag was being used. The super light buffer it comes with beats the #### out if the rifle, and feels more like a 223. Making it hard to take quick follow up shots. After the buffer upgrade it was pretty reliable. The triggertech FX9 trigger works well in them, but I've read that not all trigger upgrades are safe. The LRBHO rarely worked with genuine glock mags, and the stock charging handle is tiny and crap. The enhanced charging handle is expensive, and barely better. But the rifle is well balanced, and could be a good comp gun with some buffer upgrades.

JRC: bombproof reliability. Thousands and thousands of rounds, not a single failure of any form in mine. More accurate than the FX9 out to 50y, worked fine with a regular triggertech adjustable AR15 trigger. My biggest complaint is the quad handrail. It's big, heavy, ugly, uncomfortable, and ugly. Replace ASAP. Ergonomically it's not all that AR-ish other than the safety. Doesn't have a LRBHO feature, and takes tools to takedown and clean. Luckily they're reliable, so it's not something I worry about at the range. In terms of recoil, the JRC is like velvet, so smooth that its easy to get accurate fast follow up.

Have only held a PC9, it seemed well built but more front heavy than the PCCs I've owned. Buddy has had zero issues with his so far but MCarbo makes upgrades for some apparent weak areas with the gun.

If I was going to get back into a PCC I'd probably pick the Ruger out of the three. It doesn't look super scary, so it may survive the next ban, they're apparently accurate, by all accounts pretty reliable, and they're the least expensive of the three. Perhaps most importantly they're the easiest to find in stock. My $0.03.

Pretty much agree! i have an FX9 and a JRcarbine(stainless) Jr is a tad bit more accurate (usually shoot at 60 to 70 yards) .. I've had NO issues at all with either but usually go with the fx9 simply because i can clean it easier than the JR and i like the last round bolt hold open...I have a run of the mill Sig Romeo 5 on each of these carbines. I have used 115grain and 124 grain NO ISSUES WITH EITHER.
As far as the Ruger...I have no experience with that weapon. I worked with a fella that had an early version(conventional stock config) and he sold it and bought an fx9. only.002cents to contribute
