I don't have an Impact, but I did get to put a few shots through one in the fall. My first impression was of something built like a brick s**thouse. Absolutely rock solid, with a kind of compact density I did not expect, though I've admired the design of the Impact since first news of the model came out. Operation was extremely smooth and easy. The gun was not set up the way I would have it, the scope a bit high and too high a zoom level, the stock and cheekpiece not quite dimensionally correct for me (as the owner is several inches shorter with shorter arms), but it wouldn't take much tweaking to make it suit me perfectly. I was very impressed.

But then he pulled out his Edgun Leshiy and let me try that... and DAMN! What I said about the Impact, in spades. The Leshiy is built like a little hammer, or maybe more like one of those ultra-efficient rock climbing axes. Not a spare gram on it, but densely made and very smooth to operate. I've seen a couple of reviews where users had apparent difficulty breaking open the action for loading/cocking, but I found this easy right from the first try, just bending it open between my hands. No bending across a knee or striking it on the stock required. And startlingly accurate! I took 4 shots in all, with the thing apparently running at about 28fpe, and I stood and shot offhand at a 3" steel plate 50 metres away. Hit it 3 times out of 4 and the miss was due to me getting too excited and forgetting to squeeze the rather long trigger pull smoothly enough. That's one thing I'd change. And apparently there are easy things one can do to modify the Leshiy trigger such that it has a very short pull and much crisper trigger break, which is what I prefer. Considering that this again was a completely unfamiliar setup, again with more scope zoom than I prefer, I found it as easy to hit a target was with my own customized QB78D. And since the Leshiy weighs a lot less than an Impact and when folded is about 1/2 the size or less, I'd have to cast my vote for the smaller rifle on grounds of overall practicality. If I get one it'll be tuned for about 15fpe, all I really need for squirrels.

I was looking at Impact but since it was about 2600, I settle with FX Streamline in .25

Man, am I happy with it!! It is a dream to shoot it and I have dropped wild pigeons up to 79 yards so far and soon I will try it over 100. Oh, Streamline was only 1150 :)

I'll see if I can dig up some pics of my impact or try to take some new ones.. I have had mine for well over a year and well over 4000 pellets thru it. Swapped a few O-rings but that's it. Basically the question is what do you want to do with it and are you mechanically inclined? Some people may find it a bit overwhelming in the tuning department. Kinda like a F1 car vs a civic. There are settings for everything and they can all effect accuracy and consistency.

When I first bought my FX Impact it was .25 cal with a smooth twist barrel. It now wears a .30 smooth twist X barrel in 700mm. The gun is stupid accurate, compact, and gets tons of shots per fill. Nothing like a side lever action in .30 with 15 rounds in the mag. Carry a few mags with you and you will still be on the reg depending on where your tuned.

If you want one of the best and like tuning to get the most out of your toys get a Impact!

It's got to be one of the cutest air rifle out there :p

OK, back on subject. Speaking of the Impact, have all the "bugs" been worked out?

At IWA they were showing off a Gen2 version or three, lots of options now, bugs worked out, gauges improved, new digital guages optional, bigger plenum volume for high power applications, generally a tidier, more professional platform. Not that the original was junk. But with the Impact X barrel accuracy is reportedly off the charts. Matt Dubber is often shooting sub-MOA groups with it, and slugs. Seems everything's moving towards bullets over diabolo for higher power, and the 700mm Smooth Twist X in an Impact with the right bullet are going to be the standard against which everything else is measured.

A free image hosting service a lot of folks on discussion forums have been using lately is https://imgbb.com/ - just set up an account and start dragging your pictures into their dialogue. Then copy the direct link to the image on their site, and in the image dialogue here paste that link. The little row of icons above the text input box shows a framed picture near the right hand side...

FX makes some top notch air rifles. I have the Royale 400 with a Hawke sidewinder 8-32x scope. Unbelievably accurate with the JSB 18 grain pellets. Tried other brands and weights but get the best results with the 18 grain. I originally wanted the Air Arms S510 sporter but they had none in stock so went with the FX. I have sent over 5000 rounds out the FX barrel and recently shot the Air Arms rifle I originally wanted. Glad I ended up with the FX. Bolt action is smoother, trigger is crisper and much lighter.
I do like the impact as it has more options for setup but have always preferred the look of a wood stock.
