FX9 Barrel Nut For Handguard Swap

Has anyone removed the barrel nut on an FX9?

If so can I remove it and fit another AR type nut that will allow me to fit a different hand guard? I have one that I really like going spare from another rifle (Thanks King Turdhole) so I want to switch.

Is it a proprietary tool thats required for the FX9 barrel nut? Its basically a round collar type nut with knurling and two indentations 180 degrees apart for a tool of some kind (I neglected to take a picture unfortunately).

True north arms made a barrel wrench for the fx-9. I don't see it on there website anymore but they had them listed earlier this year. Might be worth an email to them?

Regular nut will fit, but like you probably already know that it will be specific to the handguard. I've swapped lots for myself and some buddies.
