FX9 glass

What are you doing with it? That's the first question...
If you are competing in IPSC PCC then a red dot of some kind. Aimpoint for the high-end, Holosun for the mid... Buyer beware at the low end, do your research.
If you are using it for 3-gun, then a red dot (see above) or LPVO for longer shots (Although you can shoot out to 100 with 9mm, it's kind of pointless)
And before the trijicon/EOTech fanboi's get bent. Yes they are great optics for battle, for competition and plinking it's like putting a$20,000 paint job on a Toyota Camry...cool if you wanna blow your money, but on the fx9 it's overkill to the nth degree.

There are lots of threads already in the PCC forum that have pages of suggestions for optics. I run a Holosun 510c for competition,
If I wasn't competing with it I'd buy a Bushnell t25 (think that's the one).
Find an optic that feels good for you, works with how you present the rifle in whatever way you use it, practice with it and know your hold overs....

Vector Optics Paragon 1x micro prism. Etched reticle is my jam, Illuminated makes it all the better. Eye relief is great and I ain't doing much past 100yrd with a 9mm Carbine.

I agree with AlphaCharlieDelta that everyone needs and Eotech. I think I read that right... :D

Seriously though...for quick target engagement an Eotech style reticle is great (dot in a circle). You can use the outside circle to hold over close targets for fast shots and using the 1 MOA dot is great for stuff like steel plates at longer distances. Does it need to be an Eotech? No, because while I think they were the first to do it, other optics offer a similar setup now. I've tired other stuff but went back to the Eotech for IPSC.

who has what on the FX9 for optics and why do you like it? trying to decide what to get

There are a larger number of available choices, so as mentioned, it depends on the intended use. For most competitive PCC applications (e.g. IDPA), rapid target acquisition is paramount. And always be mindful of the height of the optic over bore.

im useing it for varmint control and plinking farm use no 3 gun matches or anything like that
Then I would get a cheap Bushnell red dot. Spend $200 and be done with it, you don't require a high end optic for that. Unless you are addicted to optics that have a super short battery life ... If so buy an EOTech :p

Yup Holosun makes good stuff. They have come a long way. That's why I went the 510c over the EOTech. The 510c does the same thing at half the price, it might not be "battle tested" but for IPSC it works great (and it's battery lasts 50k hours instead of 1.1k)

I have an astigmatism and almost all red dots starburst or turn into more than one dot. True holographic sights (Eotech or Vortex UH1) are the only ones that stay clear for people with an astigmatism. Just sucks that something like the EXPS is twice the weight of a Delta Point Pro on a riser.

I’ve got an astigmistim too. I went with a Primary Arms SLx Prism with the Gemini 9mm reticle. I like the horseshoe and most of my shooting is within 100 metres.

Me too on this set up. Astigmatism aside the sight works great illuminated or not for competition. For knocking off a coyote inside of 100 yards or for a less expensive rig, why not a 1x6 knock off or 3x9 entry level scope for what the OP is going to use the carbine for. Red Dots have their place but entry lervel scope do as well and the OP's use is one of them.

Take Care

1000001947.jpgI too have an astigmatism...and the Holosun 510c works awesome. I also sometimes run a Gideon Omega on a 45 degree offset because it has the same reticle (EOTech circle dot with hashes). Awesome for knowing your hold overs at distance

how is the cheek welod with the holosun 510? i was afraid in might be a bit to low?
I have one on an FX9 and it is perfect.

When I mount the gun the dot is right there.

I love my 510Cs but my only gripe (minor) is that the reticle choices are very limited, I run the 2 MOA dot which is kinda fine. I find the 65MOA outer ring is too much.

I also have a couple of the new 507 Comps and they have way better reticle options, I mostly use the 2MOA dot with 8MOA circle which is perfect. I can see a revised 510C coming along at some point with this kind of upgrade.

I got two of their 1/4 inch risers and stacked them and i brought it to the right height I wanted. Also you could use a Unity red dot riser to get it up to a higher height ( I have mine set for IPSC PCC)

I run mine in IPSC PCC and found it fine mounted right on the Pic rail. Guessing we have different rifle setups.

I am very happy with how mine is mounted and I prefer to keep the optic as low as possible to keep the height over bore to a minimum (not that 1/2" is a lot extra)

I don't "cheek weld", I do more of a chin weld because I bring the but stock way closer to my sternum instead of at my shoulder and wrap the shoulder kind of around the stock. Be cause of this I prefer a more heads up approach, hence the 1/2" riser.
