FYI Lotsa Garands at Tradex again.

The Philippine Government thought they were gold when we looked at
then years ago. They wanted more money than the Danes sold their guns for. All the good guns were cut up with the US Government
assistance! The reason there isn't any good ones is someone cut open
all of the long term storage bags to make certain that the serial numbers matched what was written on the bag. The guns were left in the bags to rust for years. I have a video we made of this somewhere.
They melted the cut up guns, so we could purchase them for parts.
It was an interesting experience and costly.

I see a few have correct barrels and those ones are getting bought up first. Looking at some those they still had a curved side oprod and milled trigger guard. Could be some with quite a few original parts if you know what you're looking at. Too bad they didn't take a picture of the cartouche side of the stock. And my biggest pet peeve is why not measure the throat and muzzle wear, its like 8 seconds of work.

You gave to ask?

1) most pols don't own the gauges. No idea if tradex does, but I doubt it.
2) if any had bad reading they would not sell. Pleading ignorance is more profitable.

I don't know a sing milsurp dealer in Canada that posts gauge readings, and for that matter, nobody ever asks except for m1s and m14's.

So with these Garands, because they are beat up, does it make my non beat up Garand worth more? Or is it now worth less because there are more Garands out there?

If these all sell for asking price, like the last batch, then this is the new normal.

I was incensed when no.4mk1T rifles broke $2500. I felt, and still feel, they are not worth that. Now many sell in the $5000 range.

Take that for what it's worth.

Something to ponder. There is a mustang on Kijiji I have my eye on...... And I know Garand move quickly on the EE......

I sold one of my mismatched (T)s for 5k In less than 24 hrs. When somebody wants something, they’ll pay.

Why would you be incensed? It’s not like you have to buy one. Now housing prices make me shake my head.

Not quite the same though, they didn't make millions of No. 4 Mk.1Ts they did the M1 Garand. Coupled with the fact M1s are actually relatively common rifles in Canada (especially thanks to the Danish imports), there is no reason the cost should go up when supply does.

I know what you are saying and I would not pay $2200 for a garand personally. Just like I won't pay the recent asking prices for No.4T rifles. But maybe I'm miserly.

Lots of people seems perfectly ready to pay these prices and I don't begrudge them that, it's just not for me.

There are clearly not enough M1's in canada to meet demand, or else tradex would not be selling these rifles successfully. It's just that simple.

The same can be said of decent Lee Enfields. I don't think a matching Longbranch No.4 rifle I could buy in nice shape for $400 6 or 7 years ago should sell for over $1000 today, and yet they do. Go figure.

So if a 303 mk1 T is worth $5000.00...what is my 7.62x51 mk1 T worth?
The point is, everything is market driven.
No one is buying guns by the thousands like before. There was shipping and container costs, duty and taxes, local expenses and travel.
So smaller numbers means higher prices to do business in surplus.

True enough, though I believe the cost is up more due to uneducated people buying than anything else. When the previous rate was 1200-2000$ a couple months ago and it all of a sudden shoots to 2500$ that's a lack of education more than anything else. Oh well hope the people that buy them enjoy them, as at the end of the day that's what its about.
