My brother bought a Ruger PC9 from Cabelas and 7 rounds later the hammer wore though the thin wafer between the hammer relief and tungsten weight pocket. Leading to the bolt locking on the hammer and it would not cycle.

I don't have the drawings so I'm not sure which dimension they messed up, but it would be on a recent manufacturing run. If you intend on buying one, check it out for this manufacturers defect in closer detail before closing the sale.

He's contacting Cabelas and Ruger, I'll update the thread on the result of who is more helpful.

Cabela's = You're on your own get ####ed
Ruger = Ship entire gun to Quebec

Pretty unimpressed, they could just ship a new bolt and be done with it.

I know it makes no difference to you now, but I want to mention it because good news should be spread. I bought a Ruger from Prophet River. It had obvious manufacturer's defect. Clay just said "send it back" and he sent me another one. It also had issues. Clay just said "send it back". I ended up buying a different rifle from him. Business like his deserve our support.

I got flamed for mentioning such heresy in another thread. But it is another reason why I will solely support guys like Clay over the 300lb mall ninjas working at Cabelas.

Haha, Cabela's/ Bass Pro gun staff are like dealing with middle aged man children. I cant handle their attitudes or overhear how they treat new comers to the sport who just got their PAL and are generally interested looking at their first guns and have questions. I've been in the sport for a while now so I know and support all our great privately owned shops, but we all had to start somewhere. Go kick rocks mall Ninja's

I have had My PC( for a few months now. SHot several hundred rounds of various ammo thru it, with no issues. Does any one know of a production run/ or can we check by serial #?
TIA Steve

I would ship the gun, Ruger will replace all parts involved. I know it's painful but better this way, and they will look over the hole Firearm.
Ruger works this way for a reason. But thanks for the heads up, as mine will be coming in on Friday.

Regards, DH

I read on this site that there were some bolt/ejector issues with early guns.

Has anybody else experienced them? Has Ruger shipped any 'fixed' guns back for a user review?

My last Ruger pistol (a Mark 4) had a safety lever issue that was fixed quickly and properly by the factory.

I'm also looking forward to hearing from someone that was having ejection and stovepipe issues with the Ruger PCC, then sent it in for warranty and it came back and worked 100%. Mine has this issue about once every 15 rounds.

Have you tried swapping the ejector from tthe other magwell insert and seeing if that fixes the issue? I've heard that can become bent from seating full mags too firmly/aggressively and cause issues. Also, you might want to try an aftermarket extractor like the MCarbo one, they're relatively cheap and apparently also fix a lot of stove piping issues.

Rugers warrenty is horrible in Canada. The company that does them, " For warranty repairs we do not require a RMA, all you need to do is send us the gun, along with a photocopy of your PAL and a note describing the issues you are having with the firearm. Make sure to include a return address and also ways for us to reach you (phone, e-mail)". Needless to say that's some sketchy ####.

I tried to email them about mine last year, no response. So I just purchased parts to improve upon the design from mcarbo parts.

You may have bent the mag stop, Or you have a weak recoil spring like mine does (Mcarbo parts had a better one that works great). Also Make sure your mag well and mag release are properly in place (I put mine in wrong it caused FTF issues) If that metal mag stop is bent just take the one out of the other mag well adapter provided and swap them.

Thanks for the correction, I meant mag stop swap, not ejector, still too early for me this morning I guess.

What ever you do don't slam mags in. If I remember correctly it even say not to in the manual, or was that youtube videos I saw... Either way don't do it lol. Bends the damn mag stop.

Snapshots is a great warranty center. I have dealt with them twice for repairs and once for parts. Excellent service all around. I agree being on the hook for a brand new gun is lame but at least you don't have to work with some of the other warranty centers out their like Grech...

Had the same issue with mine. Tried everything myself to correct to no avail. Sent rifle in for warranty and they changed out the bolt and now it works great.
