FYI: SL8 Mags

The 5 round mags are "welded" closed. The checkered patten to the side of the floor plate is the weld. It cannot be disassembled as stated in the manual. This is so the plug that limits it to 5 rounds cannot be easily removed. (As per Canadian law)


EDIT: Does anyone know where to get a new floor plate to replace the one I just destroyed?

I know this is an old thread but I have issues with my "new to me" SL8 with the last round bolt hold open. Even though previous owner had at one time had a different lower on it (it is original one now), I believe it to be a mag problem. Some mags I have work flawlessly and others don't work. I believe it to be weak springs in 3 of the mags. They seem ok but compared to the other working ones the springs may be slightly less forceful.
Any easy way figured out to take these welded units apart yet or are they just worn out now? Obviously I would like to stretch out or replace the springs if possible
