G 43

Allow me to add some info, as madronash has sent me some pics. Ep'd safety, blued butt plate, sanded & looks like shellac'ed stock & what the seller describes as a star looking mark on the side. Sound familiar? The pics where of somewhat poor quality but it looks like a decent piece.

There was a gentleman at the Orangeville Gun Show last year who had two G43's slung on his back and was offering to sell, each fully matching, one dated 44 the other 43 I believe, he wanted 1500 for each or both for 2900. Wish I had the money, alas, I am but a poor student and thus bought a Mosin Nagant 1891/30.

I seen the pictures also, and the wood looks like someone had a go at it. but in the right hands, and some love. I'm thinking it can be fixed.

G-43

Come on you guys!
Stop being so fricken cheap.
Most of you guys that would know what a G43 is would crap their pants at $700.00 or 2 for $2,900.Chances are that you have never owned one, held one or fired one!
It is Christmas, so stop with your cheap bulls**t..........which will destroy our hobby and sport! #### heads!
I have had more of these rifles then you guys have fingers on your hands. Sold all except one, no complaints.
This should stir the pot!
Merry Christmas:cool::cool:

Well if you accept the fact that a mint vopo k98 sells for $450-600 on average & a mint matching original k98 sells for $2000 to $3500 then a vopo is worth roughly 4X what an original is. If you apply said formula to g43, then & a vopo is worth $1500 a mint original is worth $6000 minimum. Is it? Am I so far out of touch? Or maybe do we need a reality check?

Well said! I was waiting for the next guy to say he got one for a buck and got a $50 rebate!

If its all matching refurb I think 1800 is still in the reasonable margin for a good piece.

I've seen a G43 go for under the 1k mark only when parts where unmatching and the stock severly altered. Of course I've only been keeping an eye out for the last 5 months, plenty of other more experienced members out there.

Well don't be bashful man, cut the man a check! Maybe now there is a case for importing all those rc g43.

In my opinion, I think that any rifle, regardless of it's use, accuracy or country of origin is only worth something if other people desire it, thus creating "value" or "worthiness of collectability" in thier eyes. I agree that the G43 is a rare firearm and is well built, and is of Third Reich German origin, however, is a price of over a thousand dollars really necessary? How much of a price of, let's say, $2600.00 for a excellent matching version, is real worth and how much is greed? "I should price this at the market rate, and higher, and hope to get my money's worth". I agree with this philosophy if it were a buisness, but the gun-owner community, especially the collector's side, is dwindling, there is little new blood entering into it. Eventually it will reach a point where, no matter what something is worth, no one will pay for it. For example, an all matching, mint SVT-40 would fetch, say, 600 to 700 dollars, and effectively does the same job, and works just as well, and is also from a fallen regime (It has been almost 20 years now gents). I am merely putting in my two cents and would love to hear intelligent discussion on what fuels firearm values to such high amounts.
Yours,
Drachenblut
