G17 flashlight

Thanks for all the good suggestions guys I will keep looking around.

And the last two post summed up pretty good the reasons to why people want a weapon light and night sights too.
 
Keep in mind, if you want a light that works reliably, its going to cost some coin. If it doesn't say Surefire, Streamlight, or Insight, its crap. In addition, if you're looking to run your pistol with light from a holster, most manufacturers support the TLR1 or X300.

I have a blackhawk ziphos light on my G17, blackhawk also sells the matching kydex holster if you're looking for one. The light is nice, I like the activation mechanism, but the strobe feature is almost unusable as you have to quickly triple tap the activation mechanism. It does sit slightly offset from the rail, so makes the gun slightly wider which can be of interest depending on how small your safe is. I have to remove the ziphos light before putting my gun in its Glock case to go to the range as it would be a tight fit in the case.

I got mine fairly cheaply from opsgear.com in the states, the usually have decent deals, and flashlights are not affected by ITAR regs.
 
Oh, I thought it was for shooting mosquitos in the dark on those hot summer nights in the back yard.

It may considered dumb to ask those questions,but it sure is fun to read the self incriminating answers when they make reference reference to neutralizing potential home invaders.......
 
I shoot regulary in the dark at my gun club. We have an Outdoor part and during winter when the sun is down at 16:00, you need a light. Even during summer past 20:30 I need à light.
 
Don't skimp on a weapon light. Surefire X-series is the way to go. I highly recommend the X300, as it's affordable at $250 (X400 is almost twice as much) If that's still out of your range go with the TLR series from Streamlight, or the M3 polymer series from insight tech. (They're very similiar I find) But again the build quality from Surefire is worth the cost. They won't fail, and if they do it's covered by warranty.

An investment in a hand held light like a Surefire Z2, AZ2, or M3 is a solid choice too. Honestly every shooter should be proficent in usage of both weapon mounted and hand held lights
