Don't know about the 22. If you put it in high, you can always drill it out or Dremel the follower. I use the smallest I can find and still have to drill out the witness hole a bit.

That's a lot of grinding to do to get the screw head flush, just use a rivet. It's easy and is acceptable for the "permanent" mod.
