G17 or M&P 9 Pro???

As the title says, what do you think. Ive shot my G17 for about a year and a half and I like how they operate. But recently Ive purchased a smith & wesson M&P 40 and love it. The first few mags I shot were instantly more accurate then my glock. So I'm looking to maybe switch to this m&p 9 pro. I will be joining ipsc next year so I need something that can handle a beating. What do you guys think???

I really like the S&W M&P however, I don't love the hinged trigger and I find overall I prefer the Glock 34. I have not shot the M&P Pro although I have fondled it at the shop, the G34 (the M&P Pro competitor) is a really comfortable and extremely easy pistol to shoot in IPSC. You however can not fire the G34 in production so... you're essentially stuck with the G17.

What would I get? None of the above if you intend to shoot production. I'd get a different production gun altogether. The CZ SP01 Shadow and nothing else for production. The CZSP01 is heavier and it's frame allows you to get a higher grip allowing for more accurate and comfortable shooting.

The red dot of the fibre optic front sight is perfect for faster target acquisition and knocking those steel targets down. An option not available on the Glock. The trigger is crisp and more comfortable on the CZ than both Glock and the M&P. Balance wise, you will find the Glock is muzzle heavy, the CZ is perfectly balanced and the M&P Pro feels balanced but again I can't comment on shooting it, only the normal M&P.

I have Tru-glow TFO sights on my G17 and I use it in production.
The TFOs are a combination tritium/fiber optic - best of both worlds.

The pro has a longer barrel/slide by about an inch, I guess, and I think they probably left out the magazine safety I hate so much about the regular M&P9.

I was under the impression this was prohibited (adding the TFO sights) due to the fact that it's not an OEM part however I just checked my rule book and I'm wrong. So, you can add TFO sights to your Glock 34 and have it on par with the sights on a S&W M&P PRO or a CZ SP01.
 
Thanks for all the replies guys. And on the question about being approved in ipsc production, I checked it out and the m&p pro is on there. I'm really leaning towards the pro model because of the ergonomics.

Yes, the M&P PRO is on the approved production list. I didn't take issue with that. The G34 is not approved which is comparable to the M&P Pro. Furthermore, I didn't think non OEM parts were allowed on pistols in production but this turned out to be false. Non OEM sights are allowed, there are still restrictions but the options are pretty open.

I already have a M&P and like it better than a Glock... if I had to get one of the two in addition I'd get a glock just because I don't have one. Now if you already have one M&P and thinking of selling it and getting either the Pro model or the G17 I'd get the M&P pro

I thought in order for any parts you intend to modify your production pistol with to be IPSC legal, they needed to be supplied by the pistol's manufacturer.

That's what I was told when I did my black badge almost two years ago however, I just checked my handbook/rulebook and it says non OEM sights are allowed for production. There are specifications but listed specifically: fiber optic sights are approved. Check the appendix of the rulebook.
