I recently purchased a 10MM Lone Wolf extended ported barrel from a fellow CGNer. I had bought a Glock Docter Optik mount when I bought the sight but had never used it. So I mounted and decided to see what I could squeeze out in terms of accuracy from the G20 using a longer barrel and fine resolution (3.5 MOA) sight.

The setup works pretty well but in my opinion the sight sits too high above the slide. This means when you bring the gun up you have to do a bit of searching for the dot (bring the muzzle down). Things could improve with practise but I like the idea of dovetailing the sight into the slide so the red dot sits at the same height as iron sights would. Lone Wolf used to make slides set up like this but I don't think they do anymore.

Also pre-range trips to Tim Hortons using this set up are a no-no. Unsupported that little dot jumps around quite a bit and you have to have steady hand.

The verdict is good accuracy and good speed to target once you have practised a bit. All in all I think for general duties high vis iron sights are still the way to go for me.

Anyway here are the results of 15 rounds fired from 3, 5 round magazines at 20M standing at a slow rate of fire.

The Docter Optic would be great if you didn't have to mill the slide in order to get the optic sight to sit low on the slide. Otherwise, a very cool product and obviously yielded some nice results with that long barrel at 20m.

I'm curious to see with time how you do with the Docter Optic, if you choose to mill the slide or what, make sure to follow up because I see it as being a really great accessory.

I really hate glocks, but I also really want something in 10mm. I've been waiting for something to pop up on the EE, but looks like my chances of finding a Delta are slim. I might have to settle for a G20... Assuming the size of the grips is not as bad as they say.

I've got a G20C and I love it. I use it for IPSC, speed steel etc. I've also got a .40cal barrel for it, and an AA .22lr kit. Three calibers in one. I've got smaller hands and the grip size doesn't bother me at all. I suppose I just got used to it. There is a lot of talk about a G20SF version coming out. Whether or not Glock actually does make one, you can always get a G21SF and put a G20 slide on it. Bit of an expensive way to go about getting a 10mm though.

If you're ever in the Hamilton or Kitchener area I'll let ya shoot my G21. It's chambered in .45ACP but the grip size/frame is the same as the G20.

It took me about 7 hours of actual work to get it that way. First I sanded off the black paint. But not on the bottom where the rails touch the frame. I asked AA and they said it MIGHT not slide exactly the same way if there isn't any paint right there. Who knows, it might work even better with less friction at those contact points. Anyway, I used 600grit sandpaper to get the majority of the paint off. Then 1200grit, then 2000grit. Once the paint was off I then used a Dremel tool with metal polishing compound and kept polishing until it's the way you see here.

I shot a Glock 20 on a range trip while I was in Orlando.

I absolutely loved it, I have no complaints. One of my more favorite pistols.

I would get one here in Canada, but I have yet to find a store that stocks 10mm.

Here's a couple of vids of me shooting my G20C.
In the first vid you can see the first few shots have some gasses coming out of the ports. The next few there's a bit of flame and the last few there's a definite flash of fire from the ports. If you click on "watch in high quality" you will see the fire better.

In this next vid you can see how little muzzle flip there is.

I think if I stuck to calibres that I could only buy at my local stores, I would be stuck with 9mm, .22 and .223 only.... Three calibres I have no interest in shooting. My local indoor range can't even keep a steady supply of .357mag!!! I became accustomed to mail ordering bulk amounts of .40, .357magnum, .357sig, from Wolverine and P&D.... so 10mm will be no different, I guess. I wish I had the space to reload.

Look down 401 to the west of you. If Wortner Gun Works in Chatham and General Gun in Windsor regularily stock 10mm on the shelves I cannot see why Gobles doesn't. Maybe they're just waiting for someone in London to buy a 10mm and ask them to stock the rounds.

Reload if for half the price anyway.

I carried my Colt Delta Elite then after a couple years added a G20 for about 4 years then the CFC now controlled by the RCMP wouldn't let me put them onto my ATC again when I applied last Sept.

Only allow me my 454 Casull SRH's now.

I'm trying to sell one SRH now, once sold I'll have it remove from my permit and apply for the addition my G29 10mm instead.

Yes guys I feel that an extended barrel G29 is a far more versatile handgun than the G20...

I can use full size G20 mags with a spacer adaptor that makes the G29 grip feel like a SF grip frame or use the short mags for the least conspicuous handgun possible.

Got any pics of that G29? How "extended" is the barrel?

The real G29 is prohibited in Canada because the barrel is too short. The only way to get one for a regular R/PAL holder is get one through a company like Questar with a longer barrel already installed. It will look like one of these:

I bought my G29 with a 4.25" barrel and the stock G20 barrel is 4.6" a whole entire 1/4" different or you could just get a barrel that is 4.6" long.

I would say that velocity loss is only a few feet per second and definately not enough to make any kind of difference on the recieving end.

Yes you have to go thru Questar I actually bought mine thru Reliable in Vancouver who bought it thru Questar.

Here are the fuzzy pics I have of it.

In this pic you will see that I installed an extended Aroteck slide release.

I just removed it and reinstalled the stock release due to the longer release bouncing and locking the slide open.

and yes the stock mags come with a flat base plate I installed the finger extension base plates.
