Hi there,

I will be competing in IPSC in short order and I have a G22 and a G17. I want to use one not modded and the other I will be making mods to for fun.

Which do you think I should mod and which to keep for production/standard?

I appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

G17 for Pruduction, no sense shooting .40 when it doesn't affect scoring.

G22 for Standard and you'll be shooting major instead of minor with the G17.

He wants to mod one so it can't be used for Production.

G17 for Production, G22 with mods for Standard or Open (depending on the mods).

You could use your G22 for both. Download to about 140PF for Prod Div.

The G22 could be used for both Prod and Standard with no modification - the only difference being the load.

The G17 could be modified for Open. The G17 would make a better Open gun than the G22

The easiest would be to run either stock gun in Production. If you want to shoot Standard you'll probably want to go with the G22 so you can shoot Major. If you plan to mod the Standard gun, be sure to think ahead. You will still have to fit in the box and you can't port the barrel so a lot of the fun Glock mods are out. Open probably isn't a Glock game if you want to be competitive.

My two cents is to leave the 17 stock and shoot Production. Make the mods you want to the 22 and don't shoot IPSC with it.

Shoot the 17 in production, good upgrades are a fiber optic front sight and adjustable rear, ghost connector and springs to bring your trigger pull down to 5.5 lbs.

The 22 is better suited to standard but will need significant upgrades to be competitive, sights, magwell, aftermarket trigger and connector with springs.
