G3A3 with Pics!

ok, stupid question time:
1.) Is it a prohib or can I dream of owning one someday?
2.) What's the E on the fire selector?

Yes, it's prohibited, class 12(3) Converted Auto. Even Liberals can't keep you from dreaming, but unless we get off our asses and beat the CPC often and firmly with a stick, you won't get to own one. If we give in to any more firearms restrictions, you will never own one.

I'm guessing the E is from the German "eine" (one) or "einzig" (single).

Mine was French ,MAS IIRC ,nice rifle but I didn't like shooting is as much as my C1 or even old Ar10

Given the light weight, I think it would be a bigger handful than my FAL.

What didn't you like about shooting it?

Both FALs and G3s are exceptional rifles

The Hk has an edge on accuracy (roller locked performs like a bolt action rifle)

The FAL has an edge on handling and the bonus of a 'hold open' feature(mags are cheaper too)

I highly recomend owning 2 or 3 of each

I've got two FAL's....

Anyone got a spare C1A1 to let me hold for a while?

Wish I had a G-3. They do seem like awefully nice rifles. I was hands on with one in Germany the other year.

We can't have puppies or kittens in our house. They keep disappearing without a trace. I think the FAL and G3 are doing the dirty work while the Bren supervises.

It's nice to see something other than M305's in the MBR forum for a change.:)
Oh man, do I EVER agree with that statement.
I barely venture in here anymore cuz it's mostly Norc M14 this, and Norc M14 that... :runaway: :runaway: :runaway:
and BTW, I DID own one for about 5 years, sold it a little while ago. Nice rifle, just that I wasn't shooting much and decided someone else should enjoy it.
But I did keep this this fella... another "too much of an evilbabykilling assault rifle to shoot anywhere" type of firearm...

Get a real dog...Spot (rotty) is the great great grandaughter of Herr Mausers rottweiler and can shoot a G3 (or MP-45) better than I can:D

Man, those guns are absolutely gorgeous. It's a downright crime that most of us aren't allowed to own them. Not to mention that many that own them aren't allowed to shoot them. You almost wonder if the government is just asking for a mass civil disobedience what with how the gun laws in Canada have no reason, rationale or consistency to them.

Nice!

One of the guns I was really looking forward to owning was an HK-91. I had fired one back in my early teens at a range, and loved it... then I found out that it, along with the AK, SPAS-12 and a bunch of other fun guns were prohibs... I was PO'ed to say the least.

Cheers!

The last round of prohibitions and confiscations (SPAS, Feather, Barrett etc) didn't raise to much fuss because very few people actually had firearms seized from them. We bought into the "grandfathering" bull#### too.

Any ban on semi firearms in Canada will affect thousands and thousands of otherwise law abiding citizens.

I would anticipate considerable civil disobedience.

the butt plate area is very skinny and when I used to shoot it all the recoil was focused on that small surface always leaveing a dandy mark .I have put on a bit of weight since then so maybe I wouldn't feel it as much .the C1 you could regulate the gas so the recoil was almost non existent. My Ar 10 used to shoot the empties straight back into my face ..I shoot left handed not a good thing to do with an original Ar10

Sold a few of these when they were imported. They came out of Lebanon, via Israel. Remanufactured to semi in Israel. They made the dies to repress the trigger housing, very tidy job. You had a choice of German, British or French manufacture. Had one G3A4. Its collapsible stock was of a pattern I've never seen before or since.
I was impressed with the way they shot, although the trigger pulls were a bit heavy. And, they were not restricted, with the little weld on the flash hider.
