How rare are german G43 rifles? What would they typically go for in Canada?

I have seen the odd one pop up for $1000 (usually bubba is selling it), but all matching go for $2500-5000 and up from there depending on rarity.

This looks like the rifle that they copied the FN that the commonwealth countries use to shoot. I like it kinda like a svt-40. Which ones are the ones to get? The Swedish ones or them Egyptian ones?

I've owned a few of these. This is an Ng Walther rifle with original scope/mount (not matching to the rifle). I have a nice bcd as well.

I used to own five of these, but I sold some (duv, qve and ac VOPO) to expand my collection and to find nicer examples. The ones I sold had warts and pimples. The ones I kept I actually purchased from Darrin Weaver and imported from the US.

They are neat rifles. Rumor is that there are some of these rifles in storage. The problem is that they know how to use the internet and want Western prices, which leave no room for the exporters/importers. Let's face it, there is a small niche for $2000+ rifles.

You are thinking about the Ljungmann or the Hakim. Totally different rifle. G43's were the main German semi auto rifle of WW2. IIRC they were only made by Mauser and Walther.

My head just exploded because of your post.

I usually try to be nurturing and educating, and forgive me I must be having an off day. That being said, proper english goes a long way and knowing what you're talking about before you comment goes even farther.

I would not hesitate to get a Gewehr 43 but the prices being asked are absurd. I'll just get another SVT40 for $300, heck you see plenty of period WW2 photos with German troops armed with SVT40s anyways.

thats because the germans had no semi auto rifles issued at the time most of those pics where taken they loved the things

no doubt there is some RC guns still in storage id be willing to pay for one but not through the roof because they are most likely refinished

Actually I believe only Walther(ac), Berlin-luebecker(duv/qve) and Gusloff-werke(bcd) made G43 rifles.

CanadianAR is correct.

The G43 bcd factory got bombed (short production life).

Walther had two G43 plants - regular and Ng plant (Concentration Camp production - mostly just an assembly plant - really sad story is that Canadians and the Brits bombed a ship of escaping camp survivors at the end of the war, mistaking it as a boat full of escaping SS).

duv/qve are the same producer, just used two different codes.

The G43 was supposed to replace these rifles, so in a way, it was the only semi-auto rifle issued in larger numbers. However, due to other rifle development, eventually the MP44 would have replaced the K98 in the end (advantage of full/semi capability and a larger mag capacity, etc.).

This is probably one of many reasons why they lost the war. They had three rifle designs competing for resources all at the same time (1942 which was the beginning of the end), all three designs were being made with the intention or replacing the bolt action K98 (FG42, G43, Mkb42(H) )

Sorry, MP44 - later design improvement of the Mkb42(H)

That's would be correct for the G41. The G41(M) was made by Mauser. The G41(W) was made by Walther.

Agentcq, that fg42 you have is effing bad ass. Is it live or dewat?

Semi-Auto Live (SSD Model) with an original "L" marked ddx scope purchased from Darrin Weaver.

I want to say there are less than 20 or so in the country. 12 in the first import (Calgary Dealer) I believe, and John at Wolverine brought some in.

The MP44 is Hannel production CA, East German Marked.
