G43?

The reality is that 99% of the G/K43 rifles that change hands in Canada are East German VOPO rifles, which are basically RC guns. Most of these rifles are advertised at $2500+, often with condition issues like re-shaped pistol grips or butt pads added by owners in the 60's and 70's. MANY also have been smoothed and re-blued to minimize the rough casting manufactured areas on the receiver. Still more have restored rear sight assemblies since it was popular in the post-war years to mill the rear sight base off and add either a sporting tangent sight or a commercial scope mount.

I rarely see any of these rifles selling at the asking price. In the few cases where I have knowledge of the transaction, the sellers end up accepting lesser offers in the $1500-2000 range.

Original, all matching bring backs are a totally different story. Get ready to pay over $4000 if you can even find one.

There are lots of original vopo rifles here that have not been molested. And recently most start above $3k bit I'd say an inmolested vopo still sells in the $2-2500 range. Under 2k is a deal. Definitely $3k+ for original.

Bipod are less common in the US so there's no real US price.
originals are the same down there and higher .

And there has easily been 5 on the ee in the last year.

Claven is correct. I would say that most G/K43's are less common - but I wouldn't say rare. There are several variations in production, so there are some 'rare' and 'extremely rare' G/K43's but overall I would still say they are simply less common and expensive rifles.

Most Canadian G43's are VOPO, which is interesting as in the US it the other way around. VOPO's are considered rare and all matching original examples are somewhat common. This is because US troops were allowed 'Bring Backs' as a reward at the end of the war and most of the 'Bring Backs' were long arms. The Canadians never had such an official program so most 'bring back' trophies were handguns (can sneak one home or at least try). Again, the result is that we have many fine Lugers and P38s in this country and prices are a fraction of US pricing for these firearms.

VOPO rifles are MM's but the parts were hand selected so really you are getting a rifle with better overall finish and function than many matching examples.

I know Milarm just sold a G43 for $3800 yesterday and it wasn't even matching. Most Vopo's expect to pay close to that $2500 mark. If you want an all matching rifle, order/import one from the US. You might even be able to land one for as cheap as $3000.

Given there were only around 50,000 made, there won't be many here. I'd guess that 2 grand is light depending on condition.

Don't even think about collecting them because of the addiction factor! The only one that is a Vopo is the K43 with a rubber buttplate. The rest are the real deal.

I sold mine for $4300 shipped to fredqc here on CGN last May/June. Had it posted for a grand total of 2 days.

Vopo all matching. Late war marked AC 45. Scope and mount were all original ww2 pieces that came with the rifle. Scope had grease for winter weather (blue in triangle).

Rifle was still in grease. Bore pristine. It was my safe queen, but I had to fire before selling:

You did well if you got $4300 IMHO. I could afford that, but would never pay it. Nice rifle though.

Its a pretty reasonable price for whats included, which is why I got a few offers and much interest in it. I would have gotten more. I was looking for $4500 + ship/insure and had a higher offer but I knew it was going to a good home, and that alone was worth the negotiated price.

$2600 for vopo G43 in ex condition. $1600+ for original scope + original mount. Usually the mount is repro and they still go for $1600 for the pair. + shipping and insurance for $4200 = $4400.
