Hey all. Second sub-zero trip to the range this morning with my new G44. I bought it during the summer but didn't actually get it transferred until fall so only had a single sunny day range trip with it before the lockdowns & stuff. We had a great day, sent about 200 rounds down it and had 2 or 3 stovepipes. My young son really liked it. Since then I've tried it two or three times in sub zero weather and it's absolutely useless. Will not cycle, at least not with the bulk Federal I was using in the summer time. I even loaded the mags at home as .22Plinkster shows on his videos and it still won't cycle. Manually cycled it goes pop every time.
Is this normal for a G44? Should I source some HV ammo and use it during the winter? Is there a lighter spring set I can fit? My Remington 597 rifle cycles okay in this weather with the same ammo. Same 1:50 stovepipe, which I accept for low power semi operation.
