100% agree with the soft recoil and accuracy. I was very surprised by how little recoil there was (not that .223 rounds have big recoil anyway, but I immediately noticed a substantial difference in recoil levels between that and my WK and Tavor). Accuracy out of the box was also excellent.

As for the thumbhole thing - it is fine for me but I agree with you that for people with different sized hands, having that fixed sized thumb hole may be a detriment.
 
Thankfully the ergos on these rifles can be modified to fit the user!

When scoped the height over bore seems a bit high.

Don't think there's much that can be down with that so any comments from current users on the scope height?

The lower is Hera Arms and it accepts either ACR stocks or AR15 stocks. The stock attached in the pic is an ACR DMR stock which is technically a magpul PRS made specifically for the ACR. The lower requires all the internals from the thumb hole lower be removed and reinstalled into the Hera lower. Tedious but very doable.

And yeah Height over bore on the G36 platform has always been nuts. No way around that but it’s still very doable with a magnified optic.

Thanks for the info. Sadly, the adapter and ACR stock will easily add another $1000 to the cost. Might as well get a CZ Bren 2. It would end up being less expensive and less nose heavy.
 
G36 semi auto trigger housing and stock is another way to swap out the thumb hole stock. I picked one up years ago, but the factory thumb hole doesn't bother me so I never used it. I did the hera conversion on the USC, it's ok, but the ump parts would be a better option imo

Is there any difference from shooting perspective between them? I'm not a collector so I don't care about all originals.. if it looks the same and shoots the same, fine with me

Bolt and barrel not original hk parts for the ones starting at 6-7k. I don't see anyone that purchased them selling for less either.

My back of the napkin calculations resulted in ~$4250 before tax and shipping, that includes hera stock adapter, acr stock, spuhr magwell and an aftermrket lower height full picattinny top rail.. add extra cost for barrel threading and a muzzle brake of choice if desired. That lands it firmly in the B&T territory and also requires sourcing parts from different vendors and putting it all together. Still a bit cheaper then TI imported G36, but not that significantly. I may just wait for another G36 shipment from TI next year, they bring them in small batches from time to time.

They bought hundreds of parts kits, they just slowly release them as they are able to complete them.

The conversion can be pricey yeah, but lots of the parts are virtually obtainable via EE only and if you’re patient, you can snag good deals. The G36 runs proprietary mags as well so the Spurh AR15 magwell isn’t necessarily needed for a “conversion” so that’s a 500$ deduction alone. ACR stocks are more of an EE purchase so the price can fluctuate from nuts to unicorn. Regardless, buying an Sl8 and then slapping on hundreds of dollars of extra parts isn’t for everyone.

Magwell money has to be spent on proprietary mags in a "no magwell" option, and as many other people, I have quite a few Ar15 mags laying around.. So that $500 is gone anyways.
