So I went to go do some Varmint hunting in the CFB Gagetown training area and was told that there is no Varmint or Spring Bear this year. The commissionaire wasn't able to tell me why.

Anyone know?

I've never hunted anywhere else in NB since I moved here a few years ago and I have no idea where else to go. Anyone have any suggestions for Varmint (crow and coyote)?
 
The Public Affairs Office (PAffO) provides the Commander CTC and the Commander 3 ASG with advice and guidance on all Public Affairs matters. I was just out a couple of weeks ago in the training area (PV area) hunting coyote; no mention from the commissionaire about anything... There was talk of the Base Commander's wife being a tree huggin' fuzzy animal lover though, and not agreeing with the bear hunt, so maybe spring bear got #### canned because of it. I think I'll call on monday and find out for sure.
 
Word on NB Hunting's website is indeed that spring hunting is canceled, and the rumour is that it's the BC's wife behind it. Who knows? But if you want a place to hunt, PM me. I don't know that many areas, but I can maybe point you in a direction or two (I'm in Grand Bay, about 45 mins away from Oromocto).
 
The Base Commanders wife!!! Now that takes the cake!!! Unbelievable!!!

If I was you folks, I'd be raising he'll over that one!!!

It's not just the Spring Bear hunt, it's all hunting. This has been rumored for over a year now and became official last weekend. :(
