Wondering if any CGN guys own one, interested in what type of scope mount you might have.On my 7.62 ARM is the civilian version with allen screw and thumbwheel instead of throw lever, totally sucks,as well the see thru sight feature places optic too high.It is aligned with bore axis thou,as many military mounts are offset to left.Considering the SR99 mount, any ideas...?

I agree it seems that this board is a great source to discuss alot of technical things about 12.5 rifles. Ive done the same and solicit input from you guys about parts and projects for my AKs, FNs Daewoo etc. etc. Knowing full well that is illegal to fire the rifles at any range without a valid SAP. But none the less I still want to tweek projects here and there.

Perhaps we should focus on that. Because we all know that we follow the rules....

The SAP is issued so that you can take your gun somewhere. It does not limit what you do when you get there, as long as it is legal.

Yes, I was going to add that I have no trouble getting permits to go to the range, juat about five minutes on the phone? I had no trouble getting one for the UWO cheerleader shoot at ESSA. Storm had a big smile on his face for a week I bet, partly from the shooting.

Actually.I'm hoping to be able to fire the piece in question legally sometime in the next decade,if and when they change these ****ing laws.Interesting that they de-listed the Valmets, heard the Rangers wanted to use them.If you look up Galil,it says it's a copy of a Valmet, obviously I feel I'm being horribly discriminated.....

No...I think you are getting a ATT

And ATT's specifically state (now)
This authorization is not valid for live fire

Dont get me wrong...I HATE this ####TE as much as anyone else. I just get the feeling people are trying to illicit a response to an illegal statement OR they just dont know the laws

How can someone own a Galil and not know they are banned from all ranges?

not registered?

dunno...not the most common piece of metal out there. I use to know a guy who use to bring his goods to the range..to bad..I havent fired an uzi in awhile..

I dont suppose I will ever fire full auto smg again unless I go outside of Canada...

How many people have the prohib black rifles? 8-10000?

Remember that time when some dude asked something about scope mounts for Galils, not laws that we all know? It went something like this:

No I was thinking SAP. http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/F-11.6/SOR-98-208/index.html As ATTs have never been correct for prohibited firearms. However if the CFO is now attaching prohibitions on the SAPs then you can disregard my comments. I store mine at the range, have have no such prohibitions attached.

If it makes you feel better, the Galil is a copy of the Valmet M62 rifle (the every early Galils were made by Valmet till the Isrealis got their tooling up and running), which is currently prohibited. Only the Valmet M78 and M78 Hunter have been delisted. I am thinking about using a B-Square saddle mount on my M78, this could also be an option for you as it mounts through the hammer and trigger pin holes. They are see through to allow you to use the sights and it might be high enough and forward enough to clear the rear sight on the dust cover. Or you could pick up on of the dust covers with the scope rail on it and try that out, it is also an option for me right now as on the Valmet the rear sight is mounted to the top of the gas tube and not to the dust cover.

Yes, called, gave them my list and invitation and they faxed me back ATT for one day to the range, no hassle, no questions...nothing about not shooting. Fun was had by all, except the poor guy who had to clean them when it was all over...

For what class of firearm?

He has not even hinted that he does not know this....

It is a ####ty mount. Not too hard to see. Besides, it is also entirely possible that he fired it about ~12 months ago before all of this crap came in and has now just decided to change the mount.

Hey,DAR 701,you mention a dust cover with rail, for Valmet or Galil,?I've never seen one for a Galil.any ideas where one could source one?The SR99 mount, seen it for $200 US somewhere, looks to be the only decent option.Oh,and to the fear mongering ####,I've owned said Galil since the early 90's,haven't fired it since"D-DAY",but certainly hope I will again. In the meantime I'm looking to upgrade it,friend turned me onto this site,so here I am,looking to exchange usefull information with the more knowledgeable members. No one mentioned any illegal activities so keep your troll comments to your self.
