Have used old cotton sheets, folded into a square and sewed on 2 sides, then tape the top after the moose quarter is inserted. We have also used old washed cotton seed bags the same way. WK
That's what we use. Go to Value Village and grab an armful of new ones for
a buck apiece. Getting a pile at a time minimizes the amount
of times you have to be seen in Value Village.
my wife sewed me up 6 bags years ago. about 3.5 ft by 2.5ft from unbleached cotton. they have a drawstring to close tight. one will hold a quarter of off a moose or half a deer. with six bags you can do a whole moose. wash them when done and hang to dry they last years.
I purchased a roll of cheesecloth many years ago. We still have most of it - not enough hunting the last few years. I use to sell 25 feet for $10. That would be enough for 4 quarters of an elk. It would also fit into a 6 inch square zip loc bag for storage.
