I'm thinking of getting a game Cam as a Christmas gift for my father. Anyone have any suggestion on a good Game Cam for under 200$?

i like my DLC covert. takes awesome pics and has long battery life. plus they make the bushnell cameras for bushnell. i would buy another one and will this wither or in the spring.

the moultrie ir 55 is a better cam than the d-50. my buddy has one and his takes thousabds of pics a week. great pics long battery life and works good in the cold, but they dont make a cage for it which i like for bear stands.

Don't waste your monmey on a flash camera. Go with IR cameras only. Things to look for is trigger speed and Battery life and then how you have to run it. Most cameras are to hard to figure out as you have a half dozen buttons to hit before activation. Simple works best, complicated is a pain in the backside. Warranty is the last thing. Will the company stand behind it ?

I've owned near every make out there and have narrowed it down to two different camera I use and will keep on using them

1 Spy Point 6mg or more
2 HCO Scout Guard 5mg - I have the 550v

Both cameras have ran all season with no battery changing thousands of pictures and the trigger speeds are great at 1.2 sec.

The megapix in a camera is a big thing. anything above the 5 mg can be zoomed in and you don't lose your picture quality which is important when looking at points on a rack or the face of a tresspasser.

Hope that helps

Cabelas has the Primos truthcam 35 on sale for 89 bucks...

Has good reviews... Deer don't seem to mind the shutter ''click'' this camera is known for..... I might get one myself

I like my little HCO IR cam. You only need the remote when you set up the options at first. I got busted up a bit by a bear and I sent it back to the guys In Sask and they repaired it for me for whopping 10$ and return shipping. Hard to beat that service.

I'm leaning toward the Primos. They seem to be in my price rang and generally the reviews are good. My biggest question is witch model, the 35, 45, 60?

Just bought another Moultrie IR D-55 off of eBay. I paid 114.00$ shipped to my door. This guy is THE cheapest for Moultrie IR D-55

These have really come down in price the last few years it would seem.

I made a few homebrew units using old Sony cameras, but I am definitely going to pick up a few more of the commercially made ones at these prices.

I'm thinking really strongly about getting ether the Primos 46 or 60. My only concern is some people say that the shutter noise when it takes a picture really spooks deer. Dose anyone have any experience with Primos cams and can give me some input on this.

I have no experience with Primos, but I had a Moultrie I40 that made a shutter sound, and it always got the attention of the deer. Thats why I like the bushnel Trophy, makes no sound at all.

this was my first year using a trail cam and went with the moultrie IR-55 and have been very happy with it. they came out with an updated version of the 55 this year so make sure you dont get old stock! the new ones use C batteries vs D batteries in the old ones and have a better design. i bought a new model as well :D

the problem with using trail cams is they become addictive as you see so many critters that you didnt even know existed. it's almost been painful waiting for the snow to show up so i can track this baby down. hopefully he's still kickin...i accidentally erased 4 GIGS of video from the last month before i got to check them out so i have no clue if he is still around. thats probably 500, 30 second videos. :(
