Just wondering why my game cam takes pics of nothing...mostly at night it seems. Is it small animals or birds/bats flying around. A deer thats just close enough to make it take a picture, but not close enough to be seen?

Before anyone else suggest it........................Ghostescou:

Maybe you have to take the lens cover off lol.
You are probably wright about birds or something small maybe a branch or something in front of the camera swaying in the wind or like you said a ghost.

Good tips so far. One other thing is to try opening the pictures in an image editor and playing with contrast/brightness etc. Sometimes there is something there that you can readily see.

My guess would be either:
1. small critters (squirrels, rabbits, coons etc.)
OR
2. cam pointed across trail and not down the trail...(deer are out of the field of view by the time the cam snaps the pic)

Try enlarging the pic and look VERY carefully. Last week my brother had a couple of pics without any animal present. Then, after careful looking we could make out the eyes, ears, legs of a deer just behind some bush. Just to be sure, we noticed 2 bright dots on the pic, the eyes of the deer being hit by the flash. After we identified the eyes, the rest of the head was easy to see. Out of about 8 pics, 2 of them were originally thought to be duds but turned out to be positive sightings.
