Game cleaning info.

Anyone have any links or even book titles that I could check out on game cleaning and care?I'm particularly interested in deer and elk.

There's some good walk thru's i've seen online here and there.

In the end if you've never seen it you just kinda gotta work your way thru it first time. Just go real slow. Or - if you get one down have a local gunnut come give you a hand

Go hunting with Gatehouse, todbartell or Bone Colelctor (or a gigahillion other guys on this site). Nothing beats being shown by an experienced hand.

Make sure the deer is dead. If it's not dead, shoot it again. DO NOT try to aproach a wounded deer to cut its throut. They can behave eraticly and are very strong.

hehe....a couple of guys I know learned this from experience....I on the other hand already had a pretty good idea not to try to slit the throat of a wounded deer!

You just end up costing yourself extra at the taxidermist if you slit the throat. Thats been my reasoning since I was little.
