Anyone use them???

I am a little concerned about my hearing as its not perfect already.


I dont shoot much when i go out (6 shots is my record on a duck hunt) but last year someone fired a ported barrel 12ga beside me, and that hurt, and gave me a ringing for a few minutes


Anyone have experience with the game ears? do they interfere with mounting a rifle or shotgun?

Maybe an idea for a gift from the girlfriend,,, but if they are a hassle, or not comfy, i wont wear them

so who has them, and who uses them?

I don't have game ears, but I have SHS I's with custom earplugs from Ear Inc and they are fantastic. I use them all the time at the range, they tuck behind your ear and are no trouble with any rifles or shotguns. I wear them when bird hunting or gopher hunting and I find them fantastic. They can catch some wind, but I found them much better then the muff style I used to use, I think the mic being in behind your ear protects it from the wind.

The downside is plugs and electronics run about $900.

Also don't get just one side, if your hunting you loose all perception of where the birds are coming in from, I started with just one side, that wasn't much good for hunting.

Game ears are frustrating to me as they amplify all sounds very well...including all background stuff. With a bit of wind and all the rustling of leaves, branches, etc., there is almost way too much info reaching my ears.

I do like them for hunts such as gopher shoots where one can communicate with a guy on the next bench at normal tone without doffing your muffs. Mine are "Silencios" which I purchase years ago in the States.

With this said it is never too early to start protecting your hearing and if you don't you should start. I have lost better than half my hearing on the left side over the past 35 years due to unprotected ears while hunting.

I cut the games ear and wear it in a neckless lol. I use those muffs at the range I think there made by bilson had them since 1992 , they have the loud noice cut off and mics . I think game ear ripped them off .

I have the Walkers Game ear and it works good. It will shut down on a shot so you don't get the noise of the blast. The problem is most sounds you hear are very hard to tell what direction they come from so I only use it to hear something like a gobble in the distance on a very quiet morning but then I have to figure out where he is after I hear it.

Tree stand hunting it will pick up walking in the leaves but again you have to find the direction the noise is coming. Its works to hear and maybe better on low , I always have it on high...
