Just a heads up. These are at Princess Auto on the "5 Day Sale" I picked one up and looks like it will do the job. Can't go wrong with the price. Unless of course it breaks and the deer lands on you.

I bought one of those years ago....They looked really handy and easy to use. BUT with the one's I had, the line between
the pulleys would always twist and it was the biggest PITA thing I ever used.
I still have the gambrel though, works great. Winch on an ATV is the way to go.

Mine did that too,so i rigged it up to a chain hoist.

I bought one of the locking models,which is nice if your by yourself.I got it from ebay for $90 shipped.It is rated for a 700lb lift,and the twine rope doesn't twist like nylon.Well worth it,and I have lifted close to 1000lbs with it easily.

It is only rated at 440lbs. Most of the deer shot on this form well exceed that.

i dont think anyone from CGN has ever shot a deer under 550lb with all of the armor and all , so i guess this will only work for people in ontario

Winch on an ATV is the way to go.

I was just going to buy one of those winches and bolt it over the rafters.

As long as the ropes were supporting the weight evenly, I would assume so. Might not try to test it with 800 lbs though.

I bought a set of nice stainless steel hooks for hanging meat from PA, the were $4 and the rest is already in the shop.

I use a boat hand winch in my garage and works great. Have the winch mounted on the main beam, then I have various hooks along the beam that I attach the little snatch block (Princess auto for $5) then hoist from that position. Can easily lift 500+ pounds by myself with this system.

My son has set up his gagage with a small electric winch rated for 1000 lbs hooked to the wall. A pulley above and near the center. Below that he has a length of barn door track with four dolleys which is supported from four of the trusses. Using this set up he should be able to hang several deer and roll them along the track so they are out of the way for parking the cars and to place them in a tarped off area to avoid freezing in Dec if a small electric heater is used. It will be nice for skinning as well as the deer can be hoisted to the appropriate height to begin skinning then raised as the work progresses.
Last year we tried the come along trick but found the length of pull was too short and we needed to stop and rehook, It should sure beat the set I had in my garage which had a closed in ceilling and meant trying to lift the deer by hand. Not so easy with large mulies.
