I seriously think you need to see a doctor.:(
You just proved my point old man. Just cause one does not do things the way you do or use what you use.....They are wrong ( in this case i need medical help ). Just because I dont do things the way you do. Please explain why it is, that your way is the one and only proper way.

Just for you Track....Ball cap, sunglasses on, not smiling, rifle in picture ( not Cooper ) I guess that makes me a disrespectful slob hunter ?

All I see is a hunter with a hell of a nice buck!

Then you have never been on a first date or a job interview by this response.;)

Judging by the fact I have a job and a girlfriend, your assumption is wrong. You mean to tell me you have never met someone whos first "impression " was great....then turned out to be a ####. Or bought a vehicle that seemed good by your first "impression", but turned out to be a pile o sh!t ? Or walked into a nice clean buisness that gives a good "impression" and the service sucks ass ?

Hunters are "under the gun" at present, so why add ammo for the antis?
The only difference between a "garbage" photo and a magazing photo is a few minutes prep time. You then end up with a photo that you won't be shy of showing anyone.
I've been guiding for 35 years and have always prepped before photos, .........never had a client complain after seeing the resulting photos! Writers in particular are more than aware of how a "disrespectful" photo can result in them not selling the story or creating an "issue" for a magazine. Think of the photos you see at the sportshows, ......they're all well posed and clean, and you get excited. The "blood & guts" photos turn you off and you get a different impression of the hunter. Guess it can summed up as "class hunter" you'd like to hunt with versus "slob" hunter that you'd avoid.
It only takes a couple of minutes to portray that "class" or "slob", ........it's your choice!!!

I disagree. Antis wont give a ****. Dead is dead, they'll be anti if it looks good or not.

its a blood sport and gasp , blood is part of it. Im not pretending it isn't and i think its disrespectful to try and pretend like you haven't killed it , or pretty it up for its photo-op. However if the sorta African style photo with it bedded is your kinda thing good for you. I'm content with it lying on its side shot up , because it is.

Just trying to make a simple yet subtle point.I'll put a different spin on it.

This is not a jab at you but for all of us hunters.

Now you may one day or already do have a young child that you may want to take hunting so you show some photos of your proud moments."Why do you look mad daddy , why does the deer look like that?"

Lets promote the pastime in a positive light and allows others the opportunity see us as mentors and leaders. At least try to understand this point, not necessary to agree with it.

To say I don't give a s**t and that is the way it is seems very similar to anti gun/hunting personalities without seeing the other sides view.

As for the previous posts about seeing a doctor and getting prescription, I'll do it!!! :D

Ok... I'll throw this one out there.. Look at my avatar.. Deer is gutted and hanging... It's not grotesque imop... I don't have my camos on and I am holding my rifle... Hmmmmmm

Here's the story... I shot that guy in a spot that was about 2/3 of a kilometer away from a road and in a spot with zero atv access... I took my camos off, gutted him and hauled him with rifle slung for 2/3 of a k to the rhino then drove him home and hung him... I have the same pic with my boy in it btw...

1- should I be ashamed I didn't carry camera and tripod into the bush to get a pic?... Keep in mind I was stalking not in a stand

2- if I look back at this I will see the pic of me and the boy and this deer... With my trusty 700 30-06... All smiles here...

- took that pick with the utmost respect to my quarry... I made sure the tongue wasn't hanging... Nothing in behind, no blood, no guts or exposed cavity...

My opinion... Do your best... Respect your animal... What you see in my avatar is much less gruesome than what you will see at your local grocery meat dept

Life would be pretty boring if we were all the same, what would we talk about if we all used Savage 99s and all hunted only squirrels, and all drove Fords. I think the same goes for pictures, to each his own. Just don't do anything that makes hunter's look bad (posting certain pictures on facebook etc)

I think that some of my photos could benefit from a little forethought about the background, etc I'm not a great photographer, something I will try to work on. That being said I won't throw out the old pictures they are less polished. I just laughed thinking about one of my deer hunting buddies, he has a cigarette and a Coors light in his hands in every picture, hunting or not. In his case it is his personality showing through, he's a different one, but deer cam wouldn't be the same without him.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, let's try to get along, we should be united in our fight to preserve or hunting heritage and less concerned with arguing with each other about little things.

Thats fine, and I agree to an extent on the blood and gore, however the OP mentioned taking off your hat, removing the gun, removing any background object which may be in the pic. I fail to see how those things shed a negative light on the hunted animal.

Personally I can see a more "natural" picture without vehicles , building etc..........that does make sense.

The rifle , clothing, etc.......... yeah, that could be going a bit over board.I do however see lots of pictures in magazines, websites etc where the hunter with a mount or downed animal is in a semi-formal appearance.Maybe it is just policy for some publications?

I am not disagreeing with how anyone does their pics at all. Just with certain person that looks down at people that dont do it their way. And for the questions.

"Why does the deer look like that" Well son....because I shot it and it is dead.

"Daddy why do you look mad" I always look this way....thought you would be used to it :p

You have to know me before you can judge me. I do always look like that. I am not a smiley friendly looking guy. Yet I really am a friendly guy ( thats what i meant about impresions ) That is my happy look, and yes I do have a #####y look  So why would I put on a fake unseen grin for a picture just to impress people I dont know? And my natural unapproachable look comes in handy.....I dont ever have a problem with strangers invading my space in public places.

Well in your perfect little world where we all have fords i can guarantee you there won`t be a sheep this side of Newfoundland that`s not scared, cause we all know what ford owners do to sheep. As for salvage lovers, i don`t even want to go there.:nest:

WOW!!! someone's got issues. :ang3

I think the point is to try and make ourselves look just a little civilized.

I've seen some shots taken by guys I know that makes them (and the rest of us in many peoples opinions) look like real morons (guts hanging out of the animal, bear hugging the animal around the neck with the guy's tongue hanging out, ect) this kind of crap makes us all look bad and I think that's the point the OP is trying to make.

if I take a picture I do it for the memory not to show anyone that disagrees with my hunting that I don't care what they think so I'll take a little bit of time to make it look as good as possible.

Oh and those pictures I mentioned that the knuckle heads took were posted on facebook for all to see, now tell me that a picture can't make all of us look bad.

When allot of people see things like that they don't just say that hunter is an idiot, they say HUNTERS ARE IDIOTS

All that being said I don't see where having your gun or bow or wearing a certain kind of hat shows disrespect for the animal, I wouldn't think of taking a picture of an animal I just took without my gun in there, without it (my gun) the hunt wouldn't have happened so it's going to be proudly displayed right alongside the animal, (and it's a Savage)

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

to sum it up...

-we must all pretend our pics will be in a magazine
-it's not possible, but we must try to take pics that won't offend PETA
-you're a lazy slob if there's blood on or near a dead animal
-impressions are everything. all that matters is that everyone else is happy.

if you dont follow this, you'll be labelled a "hillbilly redneck" by an asshat on the interweb. not only that, but your pictures should be burned as they're not worthy of showing other people.

i'd pay big money for the ability to reach through the screen and slap a few of you arrogant turds.
