Game Retrieval

Seriously though, I never thought of using the boot of a car to fit a deer in. Never thought they would fit. But yet, here you are showing a really good-sized buck in your boot! How the heck did you do it? I assume you gutted first and got rid of the metatarsals?

A boot is something you put your foot in, the buck goes in the trunk.

Sling it on a stick, place ends of stick on my partner's and my shoulders, start walking.
Or grab a leg each and start walking. I've also done the making a backpack out of the carcass thing, but I had to do my own laundry when I got home.
On the hunting car note...we once had three people, a weekends worth of snow hunting gear, a nice stereo with sub, and two blacktail does in a Jetta.

Used to hunt moose with a partner when we were young and eager. We have carried them out in quarters by making a litter out of birch poles and rope. Later I made a one wheeled cart out of an old Honda 90 wheel and square tube. If I was doing it again, I would use a low pressure ATV type tire and aluminum tube. Once he got too excited and shot two bulls on the other side of the biggest hill for miles. We cut them up and carried them out in Woods packs. 3 portages for the canoe to the road after we got them to the lake. Two days work, my back hurt for a year. Now we hunt the clear-cuts and use a quad. Still like the idea of the canoe beyond the range of the road-hunters, but the quad makes light work.

Last year I did it alone and then nearly loaded my shorts trying to get this bad boy into the back of my Saab - yeehaw.

I'd be interested to see what others are using successfully.

Thank god.... I thought I was the only one who stuffed deer in the trunk.... Even got a 1981 Z28 on drag slicks stuck in a field while loading up a deer once....

If you've got a full aluminum frame backpack you'll notice the pack itself can be removed, leaving the frame and harness.....

Or, if your a masochist, I've got a couple old wood framed pack boards that came down in the family. :D
Why I haven't thrown them out is beyond me. I really should, before someone is tempted to use them again.

If they do, get a picture. People were tougher back then.

I use one of those waist belts also to haul the deer out and get as close as I can with my jeep. I use this hitch rack I bought at Cabela's to haul it. It has a 500 lb capacity and is quite easy to load. Shooting a small deer also helps.

My brother has one of those on the front of his suburban. When not in use it folds up to become a grille protector.
