Hey Guys;

Well, here is my air rifle. It's a Gamo 440 in .177 cal, topped with a BSA 4 power airgun scope. I'm going to be replacing the scope with a different one from airgunsonly, likely one of their Hawke Optics...

I'm not sure how many rabbits I've shot with an air rifle, but it's dozens and dozens... Not to mention the skunk that sprayed my dog (sorry Slavex) or the numerous crows that have met their end via .177 bliss...

I really enjoy plinking at cans and it brings me back to being a kid!!!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. Even though I have "real" guns now, I still can't shake my love of air rifles!!!

is it really necessary to brag the SKS?
I had nearly forgot I wanted one since I stopped visiting the red rifle forum
thank you:mad:

Sorry charles... I've been "playing" with firearms all weekend... Just can't seem to get enough... The russian sks rifles are my newest love...

The Gamo is fun fun fun also!!!

Cheers

Hey dixda, where did you get the GTX trigger? Cost? Ease of installation?

Whoops, they're actually called GRT now.
I got mine from this guy http://charliedatuna.com/
My Gamo has his first one the Mk1,
my Quest has the second version the Mk2, it is better than the first.
There's a bit of animosity between this guy and his old partner, but I believe both triggers work.
His old partner is believed to have originally designed the thing,
and his link is in my next post below. KD

how much fps do you get out of that gamo? 1000? 850? 1250? 500 non-pal?

It's rated at 1000 fps, and I don't know what it really tosses them out at. Plenty enough power for rabbits & crows! Kinda cool to recover pellets out of rabbits, they mushroom to some extent like centerfire pills...

Get the Crosman Backpacker rifle from Canadian Tire. .22 pellet at about 500fps. It's a ##### to pump all the time though.

Nice gun. I have the Hunter Elite in .177 and also picked up a tigger from Bob (also known as 'Charlie Da Tuna'). Gamo's seem to respond well to tuning, so I wish you many years of tinkering and shooting service.

The gamo440 is the same rifle as the crosman Quest/phantom.. The non pal version in 177 shoots around the 460fps mark with a standard 7.9gr pellet.. The Pal rated version that is advertised "up to 1000fps" shoots in the 830-860fps range.. I've tuned a ton of these guns and they're all the same.. With a good tuning and replacement Macarri Spring/Seal you can get them in the 930-950range with a 7.9gr pellet BUT they tend to be more harsh when firing..
Compared to a real magnum springer they're not as harsh but for a smaller powerplant it tends to get to jumpy when tuned for max power, it really kills it's accuracy.. The gun itself is just too light to be accurate.
