Gamo Varmint 1250fps Garbage?

Have one, I use Poly tip pellets and a better optic... no issues hitting a squirrel at 25-50y

Biggest issues are low grade pellets and using the 2$ optic and rings that comes with it.

air rifles can also really not like how you hold or bench rest them. I've never had very great accuracy with the ultra high FPS rifles myself (but I've only had a few, all springers too) also start with really heavy pellets, but I'm guessing its a .177?

Yup it’s a .177. I’ve ordered some heavier pellets to give them a try so we’ll see how that works out.

How do you figure holding/resting air rifles is different? Just curious.

Thanks for the help everyone!

I had one , about the same model, hi speed, too fast I think is the problem, I could hit with it ,sometimes, maybe,
It turned out to be one of the "bad ones"

Definitely try a heavy, high quality pellet. My gun shoots Crossman and daisy pellets like a shotgun, but shoots jsb's like a laser.

Also, high power spring guns often benefit from what is known as an artillery hold. That means not holding the rifle down. It needs to be free to move in recoil. Hold it lightly, and rest the forend on an open hand. Look it up, artillery hold for air rifles. It might be part of the equation to accuracy in your gun.

Hazarding a guess here but the speed of sound is 1125 fps, a projectile coming back through the barrier will destabilize.
Anything I buy for my 22lr I want subsonic. I'm also guessing that my Crossman Nitro approaches that limit. Not quite sure
but after having it in my cabinet for quite a few years, it's piquing my interest. A bench for my yard and a scope with a decent reticule
on it is on my to do list.

Springer with high power are really tricky to shoot as the have a big reverse recoil and it happen late and produce lots of vibration, you really need to follow up really good. They are also terrible for a scope.
