Garage sale M44

haha well sh*t, You learn somthing everyday, I bought mine as part of my "WWII russian gun collection) which is currently at 3 guns. I bought the polish one thinking there was not much difference and no one would know by glance and mainly because it was cheaper than the russian m44's. But I guess I got a deal :) Can anyone tell me what mine might be worth? all matching 1953

Great deal! I paid $250 for one just like yours in May. They're certainly the nicest of the M44 style Mosins, but I would buy another Finn before I laid out anything more. They still turn up fairly regularly at places like Milarm as trades and consignments. Like everything else, the longer you sit on it, the more it's worth. :)

One just sold here in the EE for 475. I paid about 225 shipped each for 2 1953 M44 and 200 bucks for a 1951, all never fired and brand new in the cosmoline. I sold the 1951 in a fit of stupidity and gave 1 of the 1953 rifles to my father. The one I kept has the original Polish sling and I got my hands on a Polish ammo pouch for it. I shoot mine with handloads, shoots under 1.5" at 100 yards with Graf brass, Federal LRP, IMR4350 powder and Sierra .311 174 grain Matchkings. Great little rifles, easy to clean that chrome lined bore and made to standard that has fallen to the wayside these days.

I have a Polish M44 carbine that I paid 150 for back in the early 90's. It was brand new condition with cosmoline still on it and it has a crome lined barrel.

My M44 came from SIR for 89$.It was one of the last m44's they had, stock was beat up mercilessly but not cracked, missing rear sight, cleaning rod, sling and front barrel bands.
I think it use to be a training rifle since there is some leftover black paint under top hand guard.
Best of all it had great bore and after installation of mojo sight it shoots great.
I had it out hunting 3 years ago of so,but didn't see i a thing :(

Mine is. It will not take blueing and is much more shiny than a non-chrome lined bore. The poles chrome lined everything...

Throw up some pics of this bore. I've never heard of one coming lined from the factory, although I've heard of private companies doing them after-market.
