Tradex has them in .308, not sure if they have 30-06

Why? a .308 garand is worth more and you can get surplus ammo for it?

The 308 barrel costs allot more than a 30-06 one...

NOPE......

Gas port diameter is 10 thou. larger in .308 vs. .30-06.

This is what dictates the gas bleeding and port pressure.....

Might work but you would have to get an adjustable gas nut to bleed just enough to cycle the action correctly.

It takes a bit more than just a reamer. You really don't want to ream half an inch. Doable, but not cost effective though. You will have a time finding a new M1 rifle barrel. The demand isn't anywhere near as high as it is Stateside.

No - it didn't take more than a reamer (pull-through type) The .308 Citidel barrel that I have purchased never had the gas port enlarged - but likely could have used it. Don't know about the barrels at Tradeexcanada.

Yes, you should be able to ream to 30-06. I have done this once when I f'ed-up reaming a .308 barrel (first time loser attempt gone bad). Some say that a slight ring may appear in the chamber shoulder - I do not see it.
