Garand Build

here's a mickey mouse way of mounting a scope.
a buddy milled down a rail from a marlin 44 i bought for 5 bucks. i'll give
it a try and see what groups i get.i'll be looking for better mounting hardware.
also,it's an aluminum rail so we'll see.
beware the guard cat protecting the garand.:p

with the cheek rest it's not bad at all.i thought the same thing but the military has been doing the side mounting for decades,of course because of the enbloc loading and ejection...

The way you have mounted it on the welded on brackets would allow you to shim under the rail at front or back to make a correction to elevation w/o using the scope's internal adjustment. Not a bad idea.

The scope sits pretty high over the bore and the objective bell is quite close to the front ring. How is it for eye relief?

eye relief is a few inches.i can push thye scope forward a few inches more.
it's an experiment,we'll see what happens....
